Putnam Valley Elementary School

Dear PVES Families,

Congratulations! We have now reached the midpoint of the 2022-23 school year, and our students continue to thrive! Our students are encouraged to set new learning goals with you and their teachers, and we are confident in the students’ continued growth and learning throughout the second half of this year. Our wonderful teachers have been teaching and assessing our students, and Report Cards will be available online on Friday, February 3rd. Report Cards will also be mailed to your homes. If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to your child’s teachers. We encourage this school/home communication.

The Fourth Grade Winter Concert took place this past week, and our student performers did a wonderful job! Thank you to Mrs. Bennett and to Mrs. Calhoun for their amazing work with our student singers and musicians. We look forward to the Spring Concert later this year!

All staff and students are welcome to wear RED on this Wednesday, February 1st, in honor of the Lunar New Year. Our Kindergarten classes will be performing songs for the Chinese New Year on Wednesday for their families. We thank our Mandarin teachers for the wonderful work they are doing with our K-3 classes.

We also invite all students and staff to wear Sports Jerseys on Friday, February 10th, in recognition of the Super Bowl. Sports Jerseys can include professional jerseys, team shirts, local school and team t-shirts, dance, karate, and gymnastics shirts, etc. We love taking part in our community and culture-building events in the elementary school. PVES has so much spirit and energy!

This week, we will be emailing you additional information on our upcoming PVES Parent Scholastic Literacy (ELA) Night, which will be held on Thursday, February 16th. We will be asking for RSVP’s, so that we know how many parents to expect that evening. We hope you can join us. This should be a very informative evening!

Thank you all for your constant and positive support throughout the first half of this school year. We look forward to great days ahead. This Friday, February 3rd is PV Pride Day (first Friday of the month). We will be wearing our blue and white!

Enjoy the rest of the weekend! Thank you for contributing to our Pajama Drive being organized by our Character Education and Diversity Committee!

Sincerely,
Dr. Margaret Podesta
Principal
