Putnam Valley Elementary School

Dear PVES Families,

Happy Sunday! We hope that you are staying warm and healthy through these cold winter weeks. Please remember to have your children check our Lost & Found items in the main lobby, as we have a growing collection of jackets, sweatshirts, hats, and mittens that have been left at school. We want our students to gather their belongings, and all items should be labeled with a last name on an inside tag. Thank you!

Please be sure to cast your vote in the Capital Projects Vote on this Tuesday, January 28th, between 6 AM and 9 PM in the PVES Cafeteria. We always want our elementary parent voices to be heard. Our students will be eating lunch in their classrooms on that day, and school lunches will still be served.

All PVCSD schools will be closed on this Wednesday, January 29th, in honor of the Lunar New Year. Schools will be closed in February for Winter Break from Monday, February 17th through Friday, February 21st.

We are still collecting RSVP names for our K-2 ELA Night on this Thursday, January 30th, from 6:00 to 7:30 PM. This will be a wonderful evening of learning, and all K-2 parents and their grade-level children are invited! Thank you for your participation!

We are collecting names of students who will be registering for our next Kindergarten class! If you or your PV friends or neighbors have children who will be 5 years old by December 1st, 2025, please call our main office at 845-528-8092 to sign up for K registration. We look forward to welcoming you!

Congratulations to our fourth-grade students on presenting such an outstanding Winter Concert this past week! The children were so prepared for the singing and instrumental performances, and we thank Mrs. Bennett and Mr. Durland for their wonderful work with our young musicians! Thank you to our terrific evening audience for your participation and support. The room was filled with smiles!

Our PVES students and staff are invited to dress for Sports Jersey Day on Friday, February 7th, right before the Super Bowl! Students can wear team t-shirts, professional jerseys, uniforms, and any sports-related items that they feel fit into the community theme for this day. We always look forward to our special theme days. Enjoy the games this weekend!

We have reached the midpoint of our school year! Report Cards will be available online by February 7th, and hard copies of these reports will be sent to you via U.S. mail. As always, if you have any questions about your child’s academic progress, we encourage you to reach out to your child’s teachers directly. We look forward to our students’ continued growth and progress throughout the second half of the school year.

Let’s make it a great week ahead, with 2 school days at the beginning, and 2 days at the end. Be sure to vote on Tuesday. Thank you for all your support, each and every day.

Sincerely,
Dr. Margaret Podesta
Principal
