Putnam Valley Elementary School

Dear PVES Families,

I hope that you are all enjoying the three-day weekend, and that the month of January is going smoothly in your busy homes. Today we honor Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. We look forward to seeing our wonderful students in school tomorrow!

Our fourth-grade students are all welcome to participate in our PVES Science/Maker Fair, which will take place on Wednesday, March 8th, at 6:30 PM. Students are still welcome to sign up to participate!  Many of our fourth-grade students have already begun to take part in our after-school sessions with our high school science students assisting in the research and design of science investigations. Please reach out to Mrs. Bruno (jbruno@pvcsd.org) or Mrs. Broas (ebroas@pvcsd.org) with any questions or for project approval. We look forward to this wonderful event!

More information will soon be coming your way for our PVES Parent ELA Night on Thursday, February 16th, at 6:00 PM. We look forward to this informational evening, which will focus on the individual components of our new Scholastic Literacy Program, and the focus on Guided Reading in each of our K-4 classrooms. We hope you can join us!

Kindergarten Registration appointments continue to be scheduled. If you or your neighbors have a child who will be 5 years old by December 1st, please call the school office at 845-528-8092 to schedule an appointment. We look forward to welcoming our newest PVES class!

We are now beginning a strong 5-week stretch of uninterrupted instruction before our next school break (February 20th through February 24th). This is a very important time in the school year, with great growth and learning taking place, and a strong focus on grade-level content, assessments, and progress monitoring. Report Cards will be made available on Friday, February 3rd. Thank you for stressing the need for good attendance, strong homework and reading habits, and organization through these weeks. We are so proud of our students, and we thank you for your support. If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to your child’s teachers. We appreciate your communication.

Have a wonderful week ahead and enjoy these mild winter temperatures. We will see if any snow will be heading our way this year!

Sincerely,

Dr. Margaret Podesta
Principal
