Dear PVES Families,
I hope that you are enjoying this chilly weekend, and that your children are getting the time to play outside and share some good books with you! We have a full week of school ahead, followed by a school holiday on Monday, January 21st, in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Report Cards will be available at the end of the month, and we will soon be at the mid-way point of the school year. Time certainly flies! Teachers are administering diagnostic assessments in classes at this time, in order to gather learning information, report to parents accurately, and to plan for successful learning ahead!
Please remind all neighbors and friends that we are now collecting names and phone numbers of families with students who will be registering for Kindergarten for the 2019-2020 school year. Students entering Kindergarten must be 5 years of age by December 1, 2019. All registrants’ parents should call the main office at Putnam Valley Elementary School at (845)-528-8092 in order to sign up for Kindergarten Registration, which is scheduled for the week of March 11th. This will be followed by Kindergarten Screening, which will take place in mid-May. Thank you for spreading the word!
Thank you to our PTA Arts in Education for providing engaging educational assemblies for our students. This past week, our Kindergarten students were able to attend an assembly on Martin Luther King designed for their age level in our auditorium. We greatly appreciate these enriching opportunities for our students! The PTA will be hosting a grade level event for our first and second grade families this Friday, January 18th, at 6:30 PM, in the PVES cafeteria. Please see the PTA website at www.putnamvalleypta.org for more information.
Thank you to Mrs. Calhoun who arranged for an amazing a cappella group from SUNY Binghamton to perform for our third and fourth grade classes last week. It is wonderful for our children to be exposed to such fine culture and learning, and to see college-age students pursuing their interests and talents. This performance was greatly enjoyed by all!
We look forward to our 4th Grade Winter Concert on Wednesday, January 30th, at 7:00 PM. Fourth grade families are invited to join us that evening for a wonderful musical performance. Our students make us so proud!
Let’s have a wonderful week ahead! Thank you for all you do to prepare your students for a great day of learning, each and every day.
Warmly,
Ms. Podesta
