Dear PVES Families,
Welcome to Kindness Week at PVES! Thanks to our Kindness Club and our Character Education monthly themes, we are so excited to celebrate the importance of “kindness” in all that we do! Tomorrow, we will be showing off our “Hats off to Kindness” ideas at our elementary school. All students and staff are welcome to wear hats (of their choice) to school. Please see the attached flyer and the list below for our Kindness Week daily themes:
Tuesday, Feb. 11: Dress as favorite Rock Star or wear Band shirt
Wednesday, Feb. 12: Patriotic colors or Camouflage
Thursday, Feb. 13: Tie-Dye
Friday, Feb. 14: Red, White, or Pink
The month of February is also Black History Month. Our teachers will be integrating the teachings of this monthly theme throughout their ELA and Social Studies lessons. Our library is also highlighting children’s books that correlate with Black History Month and President’s Day. Thank you to Mrs. Medina who facilitates so many active learning experiences in our library.
Mid-year Report Cards were made available online this past Friday. Parents and guardians can access these Report Cards on PowerSchool. Please reach out to your child’s teachers if you have any questions or concerns. Hard copies of these Report Cards will be mailed to you via U.S. mail this week. As always, if you would like to set up a phone call or a meeting with a teacher, please reach out to do so. We appreciate your partnership in your child’s success!
Kindergarten Registration continues to take place. Please be sure to call 845-528-8092 if you have a child who will be 5 years old by 12/1/25. We can’t wait to welcome our newest class in September.
We have one full week of school before winter break. Schools will be closed from Monday, February 17th through Friday, February 21st. Schools will reopen on Monday, February 24th. February is a very quick month, and the winter weather can keep us very busy!
We had a wonderful Sports Jersey Day this past Friday. Enjoy the Super Bowl tonight. We are looking forward to a very “Kind” week ahead!
Thank you for all you do, and Happy Valentine’s Day!
Sincerely,
Dr. Margaret Podesta
Principal
