Dear PVES Families,
I hope you enjoyed a wonderful winter break! We are all set to start a great stretch of learning through the next 7 straight weeks of school. This will certainly be a time of significant growth and progress for your children. Thank you for all your support as we quickly make our way through this third quarter of the school year. There is still so much to look forward to this school year!
All community members are invited to attend our Facilities Planning Committee meeting, which will be held at Putnam Valley Middle School this Wednesday, February 26th, from 6:30 to 7:30 PM. Please spread the word and join us if you can!
Our school celebrated a wonderful Kindness Week before break. The students have been busy writing Kindness Letters, reading about the importance of kindness and friendship, and dressing according to our school-wide daily themes. This Monday, February 24th, will be our 100th Day of School this year! Our youngest students will be completing math projects and reading stories to help to understand number concepts to 100. There is so much to celebrate!
Thank you to our High School Mandarin teacher, Mrs. Sharon Lum, and her wonderful PVHS students, who came to visit our first and second graders to share information about the Lunar New Year and Chinese culture. The high school students did such a wonderful job with their presentations, and they made us all so proud!
Our fourth-grade scientists will be presenting at the PVES Science/Maker Fair on Thursday, March 6th, at 6:30 PM in the ES Auditorium. We look forward to seeing the great projects and studies completed by our students. All are welcome to attend!
Our PVES Musical, “The Jungle Book,” will be presented on Friday evening, March 14th, in our Auditorium. Tickets will be on sale soon. It is sure to be a wonderful performance!
All students and staff are welcome to wear the color green on Monday, March 17th, in honor of St. Patrick’s Day! We will be sure to have some leprechaun shenanigans on that day!
Our Spring Book Fair is coming soon! We look forward to having our classes visit the PTA Scholastic Book Fair during the week of March 24th through March 28th. Thank you for volunteering with the PTA and helping to make this event possible!
Now that Report Cards have been shared, we encourage you to reach out to your child’s teacher(s) if you have any questions. Thank you, as always, for supporting strong homework habits and regular attendance for your child. We appreciate your partnership!
Enjoy the week ahead. Let’s finish February strong!
Sincerely,
Dr. Margaret Podesta
