Dear PVES Families,
We have had another wintery week in PV, but the school is filled with sweet, smiley Valentines today! Thank you for making sure that your students are here and ready for school on all school days, even with snow delays. And thank you, of course, for keeping your children home if they are ill. We have had several viruses going around during these winter weeks, but the school is quite healthy overall. Spring will be here soon enough!
Schools will be closed on Monday and Tuesday, February 18th and 19th, for the Presidents’ Day Holiday. Schools will reopen on Wednesday, February 20th. It looks like our 100th Day of School will be on Friday, February 22nd, unless we have weather interruptions between now and then. Our youngest students enjoy counting by ones, fives, and tens to get to this big number worth celebrating!
Our fourth-grade scientists are busy preparing for the Science/Maker Fair, which will be held on Wednesday, March 13th. The students will present their studies to fellow students during the school day, and they will welcome parents and families at 6:30 that evening. The Fair will take place in the big gym at PVES. We always look forward to this exciting academic event.
Our students continue to learn about Black History Month through integrated studies in their classrooms. We have wonderful bulletin board displays in our hallways that support our teachings of important people in our country’s history. I thank our amazing teachers for all they do to provide well-planned, student-centered, and engaging lessons every day.
And, our students continue to learn about Feeling Words that relate to our RULER Mood Meter. This allows us to identify and regulate feelings, and then prepare for positive and successful learning.
I hope that you all enjoy the long weekend. Stay healthy and warm. This is a great time of year for student learning and growth! Thank you for supporting that every day at home!
Happy Valentine’s Day!
Warmly,
Ms. Podesta
