Dear PVES Families,
Happy December! I hope that you all enjoyed a wonderful Thanksgiving break, and that you are heading into this festive month feeling healthy, happy, and ready for the season. The month ahead at PVES is a busy one, and our students are making great strides in their learning, all while celebrating the exciting season. Thank you for making it a point to keep your children on a structured schedule with homework, bedtimes, and consistent attendance and punctuality. This is a very important learning time.
Before Thanksgiving break, PVES had the honor of welcoming our PVHS State Championship Cheerleading Team to our school. These student-athletes performed their award-winning routine to our entire school community, and it was such an exciting day for all of us! We love to connect with our greater school community, and we are so proud of these former PVES students. Congratulations on an incredible season!
Please mark your calendars for this Saturday, December 9th, from 1:00 to 3:00 PM. Our PTA is hosting a brand-new Frost Fest in our PVES Auditorium, and we are all looking forward to the fun! This will be a great, child-centered way to get into the holiday feeling!
Our Coat Drive continues through December 15th. Thank you for your contributions of new coats, jackets, hats, and mittens for those in need. Thank you to our clinical team for organizing this important collection.
We have several important dates in December to note. On Friday, December 15th, all staff and students are welcome to wear pajamas to school for a school-wide Pajama Day (no slippers please). We also invite all students and staff to dress for Festive Wear Day on Friday, December 22nd! These special theme days are so much fun for our learning community. Thank you for your support!
We are excited to soon welcome parents of students in Grades K-2 to a Parent ELA Night on Wednesday, January 17th! More information to come on that parent event!
Thank you for your support of our many innovative programs at PVES. Our weekly Mandarin classes (30-minute sessions) continue in grades K-4. We were hoping to also pilot a Spanish program with BOCES in our youngest grades this year, but the staffing for this could not be arranged. However, our students continue to grow in so many areas, with Science Lab lessons, our Library Book Exchange Schedule, our grade level Social Emotional Lessons, and our innovative elementary clubs. PVES is a busy place, and we love to see our students thrive in all areas of the curriculum.
Enjoy the busy week ahead. As always, if you have any questions or concerns, we encourage you to reach out to your child’s teachers, or to contact me or Mrs. Robey directly. We thank you for your positive communication and partnership!
Sincerely,
Dr. Margaret Podesta
Principal
