Putnam Valley Elementary School

Dear PVES Families,

We have had a very festive and activity-filled week at PVES, which began with our PTA Holiday Reads Event and Holiday Boutique last Saturday. What an incredible event that was, with so many holiday activities for children, and many vendors set up throughout the hallways and the auditorium. We look forward to supporting this amazing event next year as well, and we thank all of our PTA volunteers who made this possible.

Our first-grade classes brought many smiles yesterday as they performed their adorable concert, complete with songs, poetry, props, and costumes. These children performed a fantastic show that made us all want to ring in the holiday season with great joy and excitement. Thank you to the first-grade team and to Mrs. Calhoun for all of their work with these talented students. We are so proud of these children!

We look forward to more learning and more holiday festivities in the week ahead. All staff and students are invited to wear PAJAMAS to school on Thursday, December 19th. We are then all welcome to wear our holiday FESTIVE ATTIRE on Friday, December 20th. This includes sweaters, hats, jingle bells, holiday colors, etc. We love to celebrate together as a learning community at PVES, and our student-centered activities bring joy to all.

Please be reminded that our holiday break begins on Monday, December 23rd and runs through Wednesday, January 1st. Schools will reopen on Thursday, January 2nd. This is a nice long break that I hope is filled with special times with family and friends, and wonderful memories in the making. Please try to read with your children every day throughout holiday break, and I encourage you to have the children take a break from the electronics and play outside when possible. There seems to be more snowy weather in the forecast!

Our Lost and Found items are now assembled on tables in the front hallway of the school. Please check this display to see if any of the items belong to your child. All items not picked up by Friday, December 20th will be donated to charity.

Please check the Weekly Notices closely. We have more room in our Oceanographer Club! Please discuss these club opportunities with your child and see what will fit into your weekly schedule. Extracurricular activities can add so much to a child’s learning.

Have a great weekend ahead. It’s such a busy time of year. Enjoy it, and Be Merry!

Warmly,
Ms. Podesta
