Putnam Valley Elementary School

Dear PVES Families,

I hope that you are all happy and healthy, and enjoying this festive time of year. As we experience a bit of snow this weekend, this is a good time to remind everyone to always have back-up plans for your students if school is ever closed, delayed, or dismissed early due to weather conditions. As you know, for safety reasons, school must sometimes be cancelled, delayed, or dismissed early due to treacherous conditions. Please arrange your childcare plans for these days. If you need to let us know of any changes in dismissal plans for your child, please contact Mrs. Donna Sillery in our main office at dsillery@pvcsd.org or by calling 845-528-8092. Thank you so much for planning ahead!

This Friday, December 16th, is our school-wide Pajama Day!  All staff and students are welcome to wear Pajamas to school for our special day (no slippers, please). If the weather cooperates, the students will still go outside for recess, and of course, some students will have physical education that day. Please be sure the students are prepared for those activities.

All staff and students are also invited to participate in our Festive Wear Day on Friday, December 23rd. Students can wear holiday colors, elf hats, jingle bells, etc., if they choose. Our entire student body will come together for a whole-school Sing Along on that day, which is always so much fun. Thanks so much for your support, and for keeping up with our busy days at PVES.

We are now taking student names for Kindergarten Registration for our incoming class in September!  If you have a child who will be 5 years old by December 1, 2023, please call our main office at 845-528-8092. We will help you to make a registration appointment. All incoming Kindergarten students will be invited to attend a brief Kindergarten Screening in May. We look forward to welcoming our youngest learners!

Please remember that schools will be closed from Monday, December 26th, through Monday, January 2nd for the holiday break. Schools will reopen on Tuesday, January 3rd, 2023.

Our Lost & Found Collection is now located in the main hallway of our building. Please ask your child to look for missing items in this space right near the main office.

Thank you for your contributions to our Holiday Donation Drives. It is so important to help those in need at this time of year.

Enjoy the week ahead! Stay warm.

Sincerely,

Dr. Margaret Podesta
Principal
