Putnam Valley Elementary School

Dear PVES Families,

Please mark your calendars to be sure to vote in our District Budget Vote on Tuesday, May 21st at Putnam Valley Elementary School! Voting will take place from 6 AM to 9 PM in our Elementary Cafeteria! It is so important to get the elementary parent “voice” in this vote, and we thank you for participating in this process.

We had a wonderful ENL Night at our Elementary School last week! I want to thank our many district administrators and Board of Education members who attended. A special thank you to Mr. Hogan, Mrs. Ribeiro, Ms. Castellanos, and Mr. Evans for their wonderful facilitation of a very special evening! We love connecting with all of our PVES families, and the pizza, games, and music made it extra special. (Thank you, Mr. Evans on guitar!)

Third-quarter Progress Reports were mailed via U.S. Mail at the end of last week. As you review these brief reports, please reach out to your child’s teacher(s) if you have any questions or concerns. Fourth Quarter Report Cards will be made available at the end of June.

Thank you to our PTA for providing an energetic assembly by children’s author, Daryl Cobb, this past week. Each grade level was able to attend a music-filled session focusing on literacy and creative writing. We are so appreciative of our PTA Arts in Education for making events like this possible!

This week, we look forward to welcoming our Kindergarten class of 2024-25 to Kindergarten Screening! If you or any neighbors or friends have a child who will be 5 years old by 12/1/24, please have them call the school office at 845-528-8092. We can’t wait to meet our new class!

Thank you for your donations of tissues for our classrooms. We are still collecting tissue boxes, and we thank you for your help!

We are ready to welcome in the warm month of May this week! We are also excited to welcome back Mrs. Gannon, who will be returning to her fourth-grade classroom after her childcare leave, beginning tomorrow! Thank you to Ms. Cierra Espineira who did such a fine job taking her place for several months. We thank our students and their parents for their cooperation and positive communication!

Please remember that our elementary students (only) will have a half-day of school on Thursday, May 23rd (12:00 dismissal). Schools will then be closed from Friday, May 24th through Tuesday, May 28th. Schools will reopen on Wednesday, May 29th.

Enjoy the spring-like weather ahead. Thank you for keeping even the busy spring weeks structured with regular homework and bedtimes for your children. Let’s finish the academic year strong! Thank you for your support!

Sincerely,
Dr. Margaret Podesta
Principal
