Dear PVES Families,
Welcome to the 2018-2019 school year! We have had a very successful first few days of school, and it is so wonderful to see your beautiful children back in their bright and exciting classrooms! We are looking forward to seeing many of you at our Back to School Picnic tonight! We will meet you on the back, playground field from 5:30 to 7:30 PM! Please bring your chairs, blankets, a picnic dinner, and a dessert to share. Please plan on supervising your children and enjoying your friends and fellow community members!
Please be reminded that it is VERY important that your child’s dismissal plan and bus notes are up to date and correct each day. Never assume that the school office knows of a dismissal plan for your child if it has not been put in writing. Permanent notes can be written so that the plans stay the same each week (Ex. Monday, Wednesday, Friday…pick-up; Tuesday, Thursday…Children’s Center, etc.), but if plans change, the office needs a note. Please do not call or stop into the main office at the end of the day to change dismissal plans. We appreciate this accurate information in the morning for each student, so that all children can get home safely each day.
We look forward to welcoming you all to our Back to School Nights in September. These events are for adults only. Parents of children in grades 3 and 4 are welcome to Back to School Night on Thursday, September 13th at 7:00 PM. Parents of children in grades 1 and 2 are welcome to Back to School Night on Monday, September 17th at 7:00 PM. These are extremely important, informative evenings, and we hope to see you all here!
There will be no school this Monday and Tuesday, September 10th and 11th, in honor of Rosh Hashanah. Schools will be closed on Wednesday, September 19th, in honor of Yom Kippur. School Picture Day will take place on Monday, October 1st. Schools will also be closed on Monday, October 8th, for Columbus Day. Please be sure to check our school Calendar Scroll on our website at www.pvcsd.org, under the Elementary Tab for many other important dates.
Today was our first PV Pride Day of the year. On every first Friday of the month, all staff and students are welcome to wear blue and white, to show our school colors and pride in our wonderful school. We begin these days singing the PVES song as an entire learning community! Today was a great start to an amazing year ahead!
If you haven’t done so yet, please be sure to load the PV App on your phone! This app is a very effective way to get school information quickly and efficiently. Just go to the App store on your phone, and search for Putnam Valley CSD. You will find this to be extremely helpful!
I truly look forward to working with all of you this year. You can email me at any time at mpodesta@pvcsd.org. I encourage you to reach out to your child’s teachers directly with any questions or concerns. Open and positive communication between home and school will only serve to support your child’s success!
Enjoy the weekend ahead! I hope to see you at the picnic!
Warmly,
Ms. Podesta
Principal
