Putnam Valley Elementary School

Dear PVES Families,

We have had an incredibly busy and festive Spirit Week at PVES, and the school year is winding down on a very positive note.  I thank all the students and staff for taking the “Kindness Challenge” this week, and for promoting the PVES school spirit!  The costumes and special events have brought much fun and laughter, and we enjoy participating in these events as a whole school community.

PVES enjoyed a wonderful Field Day on Thursday.  The weather was absolutely perfect, and the children (dressed in their field day colors and silly socks) enjoyed the outdoor activities throughout the morning.  Thank you to Mrs. Aurigemma and Mr. Heitman for the planning they put into this activity-filled day, and thank you to our entire staff for helping to run the games and challenges outside.  It was a great day!

Our fourth graders were also fortunate to have a beautiful day for their Revolutionary War Reenactment!  Thank you to the Putnam Valley Education Foundation and to the PTA for their contributions to this amazing day of living history for our students.  Thank you also to our amazing fourth grade team, our volunteer parents, and to our high school students who volunteered to help us out, along with Mr. Scampoli.

Our fourth graders made us so proud, and we are so fortunate to be able to provide our students with such exciting, authentic learning experiences.

Thank you to the PTA for bringing several assemblies to our school this week.  These assemblies, combined with the work of our Character Education committee, certainly support the important work that we do at PVES, both in and out of the classrooms.  Please join us at the PV Renegades Night this Thursday, June 21st, at 7 PM.  It will be a great night of baseball and school spirit!

The Moving Up Ceremony for our fourth-grade students will take place this Tuesday, June 19th.  Every person attending the ceremony must have a ticket.  Thank you to our PTA volunteers who have helped to make this day extra-special for our fourth-grade “graduates.”  We look forward to celebrating this milestone in their educational careers!

Report Cards will be made available online during the day on Friday, June 22nd.  Hard copies will be mailed via U.S. mail soon after.  PVES will dismiss at 12:00 on Friday, June 22nd, which will be the elementary students’ last day of school for this year.  Our fourth graders will be given a very special send-off on that day!

Please be sure to check our Lost & Found collection before the end of the school year.  If you have medicine to pick up in our health office, please be sure to do so.  The Summer Reading Challenge information will be sent home soon.

Enjoy the weekend ahead.  Happy Father’s Day to all of our PVES dads!  We hope you each enjoy a very special day, always knowing the very important role you play in the life of your child!

Fondly,
Ms. Podesta
