Dear PVES Families,
We are enjoying a beautiful and BUSY month of June at PVES, and we are all looking forward to our 5th annual SPIRIT WEEK! This year we are taking the “Kindness Challenge” with our Spirit Week, and we begin with Mismatch Monday! We are “mixing it up” for Kindness on Monday, and all staff and students are invited to wear mismatched clothes to enjoy the school spirit and join in our theme. We will wear silly hats on Tuesday (“hats off to Kindness”), Pajamas OR Blue and White colors on Wednesday for school spirit, Field Day T-shirts with Silly Socks on Thursday, and Crazy Hair on Friday, all in the spirit of our Kindness Challenge! It is sure to be a fun week ahead, and the weather looks great for our exciting Field Day on Thursday! Please be sure to apply sunscreen on your children at home, as we cannot do that in school. Thank you!
Congratulations to our second grade classes on a joyous and talent-filled Fairy Tale Show! Thank you to our second grade teachers, support staff, and to Mrs. Calhoun for all of the hard work that goes into the preparation for this show. Thank you also to the second grade families for your support with the costumes and song practice at home! The second graders did a wonderful job performing for their PVES friends and then for their families on Friday. Bravo! You made us all smile!
We enjoyed a most memorable 3rd Annual PVHS Senior Cap and Gown Walk on this past Tuesday, when the lovely and gracious Senior Class visited our elementary school in their caps and gowns and walked through our hallways with music and lots of elementary applause. Our elementary teachers love to see these wonderful students as they celebrate their high school graduation. PVES also welcomed retirees, district administrators, and Board of Education members on this special morning. It was a beautiful send-off for these wonderful PVCSD graduates, and we wish them the best that life has to offer!
Our fourth grade students enjoyed their trips to TOEC this week, and we thank all of the parent chaperones that were able to help with these events. Our fourth graders will be participating in the Revolutionary War Reenactment on Tuesday. History will come to life at PVES! Tickets for the 4th Grade Moving Up Ceremony will be sent home in backpack mail this Monday. We ask that all fourth grade parents read the ticket directions very carefully. We look forward to a very special ceremony.
All of our grade levels have been enjoying special classroom events, PTA assemblies, field trips, and whole-school celebrations. We look forward to our end-of-year Character Education Assembly, where we will come together as a school to reflect on our growth, our positive learning community, and our focus on the celebrated Character Traits of Kindness, Safety, Responsibility, and Respect. I thank the Character Ed Committee for their wonderful efforts this year, including the beautification of our school grounds with gorgeous flowers and decorative stones and plant pots. Spring certainly took a while to arrive this year, but our school garden is now beginning to blossom! There should be many flowers and vegetables appearing soon!
Please read the Weekly Notices carefully. Enjoy this beautiful weekend, and thank you for all you are doing to support your children through a successful end to the school year! You will be receiving information soon on our Summer Reading Challenge. This is an exciting way to encourage daily reading over the summer, which is so very important!
I hope to see many of you at the PTA Pocketbook Bingo tonight! Looking forward to having a great time while supporting our wonderful PTA!
Warmly,
Ms. Podesta
