Putnam Valley Elementary School

Dear PVES Families,

I hope you are enjoying the beautiful spring weather, with lots more in the forecast! Spring has sprung, and we look forward to having many of you join us after school on Tuesday, May 19th, from 4:00 to 5:30 PM for our second annual Planting Party! More information will be coming soon.

As our third quarter of the school year winds down this week, we prepare to finish the school year strong throughout the last ten weeks of school. You will be receiving Progress Reports in a couple of weeks in the mail, and we encourage you to reach out to your child’s teacher(s) to discuss any concerns or learning goals. There is still lots of learning ahead during these last months of the academic year.

Our third graders will be performing their Recorder Concert on this Wednesday, April 15th, at 7:00 PM in our PVES Auditorium. Thank you to Mr. Durland for his hard work with our young musicians. This is sure to be a great show.

Congratulations to our fourth grade scientists who were asked to present their Science/Maker Fair projects to the Board of Education last week. They did such a great job! We look forward to their participation in the Tri-County Science Fair later this month. Thank you to Mrs. Bruno and to Mrs. Broas for their leadership and facilitation of this work.

If you have a child who will be 5 years old by December 1, 2026, please call the office to set up a Kindergarten registration appointment. Please share this information with friends and neighbors. We look forward to our Kindergarten Screening Days in May, and we can’t wait to meet our newest group of learners.

All staff and students are invited to wear green, brown, or blue on Earth Day, Wednesday, April 22nd. We continue to teach important ways to care for our earth, focusing on sustainability and environmental protection.

Enjoy the warmer temperatures this week. Thank you for your ongoing support and partnership.

Sincerely,
Dr. Margaret Podesta
Principal
