Dear PVES Families,
Welcome to PVES Spirit Week! Our students and staff look forward to the theme days and excitement of this week, and we thank you for your support! The calendar continues to be extremely busy at our elementary school, and I am so very proud of our amazing staff and wonderful students who make every day so successful!
Our Spirit Week themes are as follows:
Monday, June 12th: Crazy Hat & Hair Day
Tuesday, June 13th: Crazy Socks or Neon Color Day
Wednesday, June 14th: Flag Day – Red, White, and Blue
Thursday, June 15th: Let’s wear those Field Day t-shirts/colors AGAIN!
Friday, June 16th: “Extra” PV Pride Day: Blue & White
This past week, many of our grade levels held special parent classroom activities and academic sharing days, which will continue this week and next. Congratulations to our youngest students who performed their Kindergarten Show on Friday for their families! The Auditorium was filled with smiles and cheers! Thank you to our Kindergarten teachers who have worked so hard with these young children and who have brought them so far!
PVES was also honored to welcome the PVHS Senior Class of 2023 to our hallways last week! This Senior Cap & Gown Walk is a wonderful tradition at our school, and our staff and students celebrated these amazing seniors with applause, smiles, and tears. We want to especially thank our Kindergarten students who helped to escort the PVHS graduates. This was such a PVCSD K-12 Celebration, and we are so very proud!
This week, we look forward to our Sustainability Fair, with each grade level following the station rotation schedule (outside if possible) on its assigned day. Please note that a special Lunch Order Form must be filled out for your child’s Sustainability Fair day. We thank Mrs. Bruno and Mrs. Broas for their efforts with this special week, as we focus on the important concepts of sustaining our environment’s resources, with responsibility and attention.
Our students took part in a Sheltering Drill last week, which would be initiated in the event of severe weather. Throughout the year, our staff and students have participated fully in all our Safety Drills, and I commend our Crisis Team (Building Emergency Response Team) for their ongoing collaboration and learning.
Fourth Grade families will be receiving ticket information this week for the 4th Grade Moving Up Ceremony. All attendees (including school-age children and toddlers over the age of 1 year) must have a ticket to attend. Our fourth-grade students were able to take a short visit to the middle school last week, and we continue to communicate with our middle school colleagues to ensure a smooth transition for our students. We are so very proud of our fourth-graders, and we will miss these students next year!
Our Summer Boost invitations have gone out for the mornings of August 14th through 17th. Please be sure to register your child for this free academic boost program for the new year. All current K-4 students are invited! Please also look for information coming home soon about the PVES Summer Reading Challenge and Summer Work Packets for the students. Summertime can be a learning time, and we hope that it will be!
Enjoy the week ahead. We look forward to Father’s Day on Sunday, and schools will then be closed on Monday, June 19th, for Juneteenth. Our students will have 12:00 dismissals on Thursday, June 22nd, and Friday, June 23rd. The year has gone so quickly!
Thank you for all your support and positive feedback! It means so much!
Sincerely,
Dr. Margaret Podesta
Principal
