Putnam Valley Elementary School

Dear PVES Families,

Today, we honor Memorial Day and all those who have given their lives for our country. Thank you to all those who have served and who are serving our country today.

Schools will re-open tomorrow, with a busy 4-day week ahead. We are now at the midpoint of the fourth quarter of this school year, and June is right around the corner. Thank you for supporting your children’s good work habits and homework routines throughout the remainder of the school year. This continues to be a time of great learning growth.

Please be reminded that there will be no school on Monday, June 20th, in honor of the Juneteenth holiday. Elementary students will now have half-days of school on Thursday, June 23rd, and Friday, June 24th.  Dismissal will take place at 12:00 PM on these last two days of the school year.

We are looking forward to the Fourth Grade Band & Chorus Concert this Wednesday, June 1st, at 7:00 PM. This performance will take place in the PVES Auditorium. Thank you to Mrs. Calhoun and to Mrs. Bennett for their wonderful efforts with our talented students. We look forward to a great show.

Our grade-level Sustainability Fairs wrapped up last week, and they were all a huge success. Thank you to Mrs. Bruno and to Mrs. Broas for facilitating these important outdoor learning days. We all continue to grow together in our efforts to take care of the earth.

As June gets underway, we look forward to our PVES Spirit Week, which is scheduled for June 13th through June 17th.  Each day will have a special theme.  The schedule for Spirit Week is as follows:

Monday, June 13th:  Crazy Hat & Hair Day!

Tuesday, June 14th: Flag Day (Wear red, white, and blue)!

Wednesday, June 15th: Crazy Socks or Mismatch Day!

Thursday, June 16th: Field Day colored t-shirts (grade level colors)!

Friday, June 17th: PVES Pride Day (blue and white)!

All students and staff are invited to wear blue and white for our June PV Pride Day this Friday, June 3rd. We certainly have many reasons to be proud of our school, and we thank you, as always, for your partnership and enthusiasm!

Have a great week ahead!

Warmly,
Dr. Margaret Podesta
Principal
