Putnam Valley Elementary School

Dear PVES Families,

Happy new school year!  We have had a wonderful start to the school year, and the children are quickly settling into their routines and learning schedules.  Thank you for having your children here and on time for school every day.  That is the beginning of academic and personal success, and it means so much to set a strong foundation with good habits during these early years.

As you know, the PVES/PTA Picnic has been postponed until Friday, September 13th.  Please join us on that night in the playground area from 5:00 to 7:00 PM.  Please bring dinner and a dessert to share.  Hopefully, the weather will cooperate!

It is very important that new bus notes are sent in this year for any changes from regular dismissal for your child.  Please do not assume the same dismissal plan that was in place last year will continue into this new school year.  Thank you for always communicating the dismissal plans clearly with your child, and for putting the dismissal notes in your child’s folder with the correct date.

We are hoping for 100% parent attendance at our Back to School Nights this coming week!  On Monday, September 9th, the parents of students in Grades 3 and 4 are invited to visit our school and your child’s classroom from 7:00 to 8:00 PM.  If you would like to meet the professional support staff (AIS teachers, speech teachers, counselors, etc.), please come to the school library between 6:30 and 7:00 PM.  We will then meet to share important information at 7:00 in the Auditorium (not the big gym), before visiting your child’s classroom.  The parents of students in Grades 1 and 2 are invited on Tuesday, September 10th at the same times.  Please plan on attending, as very important information will be shared about your child’s academic year.  Parent conference sign-up times will also be available on these evenings.  These evenings are not for children. Thank you for making childcare arrangements.

Enjoy the weekend ahead. We are off to a wonderful start, but the students may be a bit tired after this first four days of school.  We are all settling in, but we are so very proud of all the wonderful things that are happening at PVES.  Thank you for being such a very important part of our growth and learning!

See you next week at the Back to School Nights!

Warmly,

Ms. Podesta
