Dear Putnam Valley Families,

With the arrival of warmer weather and longer days, we are thrilled to welcome the start of spring and our exciting spring programs. It is wonderful to see our student-athletes back out on the fields representing our school!  The Stage Crew and the cast have begun the preparation for the spring musical Into the Woods, which will be presented the weekend of April 17th.

As we transition into this new season, we have several important academic and operational updates to share:

Academic Progress & Attendance

We have officially passed the midpoint of the 3rd Quarter. This is a critical time for students to stay focused on their studies.

Valedictorian & Salutatorian

Congratulations to the PVHS Class of 2026 Valedictorian, Massimo Cartategui, and the Salutatorian, Kaitlyn Caruso.  The honor for both Massimo and Kaitlyn signifies a relentless commitment to precision, a mastery of the curriculum, and the ability to perform at a high level across every subject.  They represent the academic leaders of our community—both Massimo and Kaitlyn have balanced heavy workloads, extracurriculars, and personal growth, setting a standard for their peers.

Junior Parking Reminder

With spring comes a new milestone for many of our juniors: receiving their driver’s licenses. While this is an exciting time, please remember:

Lockdown Drill Thursday, March 19th

Prior to the drill, we will announce that we will begin our lockdown drill shortly.  We will test out our automated lockdown system.  Students and staff will hear an automated voice loudly announcing “Lockdown. Lockdown, Lockdown” repetitively for a minute.  The automated lockdown will be heard at the middle school and high school.  Both schools will enter the lockdown protocol.  The Putnam County Sheriff’s Department will conduct the drill with other local law enforcement agencies simultaneously in both buildings.

Important Schedule Changes

Please take note of the following adjustments to the upcoming school week:

Thank you for your ongoing partnership and support of our students. We look forward to a productive and energetic spring season!

Warm regards,
