Dear PVHS families,
Can you believe it? Last Friday marked the midpoint of the 1st quarter. It certainly has been a positive start to our school year. We have received many comments from different groups about how respectful and polite our students are. Our staff, visitors, and presenters are amazed that our students say hi to them and ask how they are doing. These simple gestures go a long way toward maintaining a warm, welcoming school culture.
Grades Comments Updated
Teachers updated all grades and comments by Wednesday, October 7th. This is an excellent time to check on your child’s progress. Review their grades, assignments, and ATTENDANCE. Your interest and support at home are essential to student success, both academically and socially-emotionally. If you have questions about a particular class, your child’s teacher is the first person to contact. The parent-teacher relationship and communication are paramount to student success.
IB and College Course Payments
You heard that correctly! The school district will absorb the cost of all IB courses in Year 2 (previously the district paid for one course) and any of our College courses. These include Dutchess Community College (DCC) courses: College Calculus, College Pre-Calculus, College Stats, IB Math SL Year 2, IB Spanish/French Year 2, Siena College Intro to Computer Science, UAlbany Science Research classes. Students will need to enroll in the courses in class and meet the passing requirements in order to receive college credit that is transferable. As per our Student Handbook, any student enrolled in an IB course in Year 2 must complete the Internal (IA) and External (EA) assessments and any other requirements of the course to receive an IB designation on their transcripts.
Sincerely,
Mr. Matt Mello
