Dear Parents and Guardians,

I hope this letter finds you well. We will return to school on April 8th, ready to take on the home stretch of the year and the eclipse.  School will be in session on April 8th and after-school activities will go on as planned.  Remind your child not to stare at the eclipse.

As we approach the end of the third quarter on April 19th, I wanted to provide you with some important updates and reminders regarding upcoming events and policies at Putnam Valley High School.

End of Third Quarter: The third quarter will conclude on April 19th. Please encourage your child to stay focused and finish strong as we head into the final months of the school year.  This is an excellent time to check PowerSchool.  Use this link  https://ps.pvcsd.org/public/ to login.  Please look at your child’s attendance record and reach out to teachers to follow up with any questions or concerns.

AP and IB Testing: Students enrolled in Advanced Placement (AP) and International Baccalaureate (IB) courses will have upcoming exams. Only IB students enrolled in year 2 of the IB course will sit for IB assessments.  All AP students enrolled in an AP course are expected to sit for the assessment.  It’s essential for students to prepare diligently for these tests, as they can earn college credit and demonstrate their academic proficiency.  Any questions about assessments should be directed to the teacher.  No classes are canceled for testing during May.  This means students must attend classes before and/or after their AP/IB exams. Here is the link to the 2024 May testing schedule.

Algebra I Regents: The Algebra I Regents exam is scheduled for June 4th. Please note that no classes will be held on this day to accommodate the testing schedule.  Only students taking the Algebra I Regents will need to come to school.  Morning buses will run on their normal schedule.  We will have a midday bus run at 11:45to take students home.

Spring Musical – Rent: Our talented students will showcase their skills in the spring musical, “Rent,” from April 26th to April 28th. We encourage you to support our performing arts program by attending these performances.  For more information and how to get tickets, visit https://pvcsd.ticketleap.com/rent-high-school-edition/

Driving to School: Juniors are reminded that they do not have permission to drive to school. We appreciate your cooperation in ensuring the safety of all students and supporting our school rules.

Campus Policy: Putnam Valley High School is not an open campus. If your child needs to leave school during the day, they must be signed out by a parent, guardian, or an individual listed on the emergency contact list.  We don’t allow students to drive home with seniors unless there is written consent in advance from the parent of the driver and the parent of the passenger.

We look forward to several events in the works for the spring.

prom, graduation, and expectations for seniors.

Thank you for entrusting us with your child’s academic journey.

Warm regards,

Matt Mello
