Dear PVES Families,

Happy Mother’s Day! I hope that all our PVES moms and special adults are feeling loved and appreciated today. May you always know how your love, attention, and efforts impact the young ones in your life. Wishing you a very happy day!

It was wonderful to see so many mothers and special adults visit our Kindergarten classrooms for “Muffins with Mom” this past Friday. Thank you to our Kindergarten teachers who made this sweet event possible. The children were just beaming with pride!

Our fourth graders did an amazing job presenting their Colonial Day projects to their parents this past week as well. Thank you to our fourth-grade team who prepared the students for this special day. Our students continue to make us proud with their amazing efforts and abilities. Great job!

This week, we look forward to the PVES Gym Show on Tuesday night at 7:00 PM. Thank you to Mrs. Aurigemma and Mr. Heitman for their efforts with our young student-athletes. The students will be rehearsing during the school day, and all grade levels will be able to attend the daytime shows.

I would like to thank the PTA for their incredible gestures and generosity throughout this past Teacher/Staff Appreciation Week. Each day, the staff was surprised with delicious treats and warm appreciation. We are so fortunate to work with such a supportive parent group, and we want everyone to know how much we appreciate the incredible planning and thought that went into this past week’s celebrations. Thank you, PTA. It was a very special (and sweet) week!

We also want to thank the PTA/Arts in Ed for providing all grade levels with the “Trashaganza” Assemblies last week. For the first time in over two years, our grade levels were able to gather in the auditorium for a show on stage, and the children just loved it! Throughout the show, students learned about the importance of recycling and sustainability, and ideas were shared about sharing and performing with musical instruments made from reused and recycled materials. Maybe the students will try this at home!

Our third graders did a wonderful job performing in their Recorder Concert this past week. Thank you to Mrs. Calhoun for your guidance and direction, and congratulations to our young musicians. It was a very happy night, with many family members in attendance!

We are looking forward to our Kindergarten Screening Days this week. If your friends or neighbors have a child who will be 5 years old by 12/1/22, please make sure that they have called the school to register for Kindergarten. We can’t wait to meet our new PVES students!

Please be sure to mark your calendars for our District Budget Vote on Tuesday, May 17th. Voting will take place in the Elementary School Cafeteria from 6 AM to 9 PM. We want your voice to be heard.

Enjoy the beautiful week ahead! We should have lots of opportunities to enjoy our gorgeous outdoor learning spaces this week.

Happy Mother’s Day!

Warmly,

Dr. Margaret Podesta
Principal
