Dear PVES Families,
I hope you are all enjoying the weekend, with warmer days on the way! The productive month of March is off to a wonderful start at PVES, and I am so excited that our students have all reached their 100th Day of School for this year! Thank you to our entire faculty and staff, custodians, bus drivers, and to our wonderful PVES families for helping us to reach this milestone during this challenging year. We have so much to celebrate, and so much to look forward to!
This is a perfect time of year to check in with your children and make sure that their work and study habits are in a good place, and that your children are reading at home every day. Daily reading helps to develop not only the love of books, but it also increases skills in comprehension, vocabulary, and fluency. Strong reading skills also support learning in all areas of the curriculum. Thank you for reading to and with your children. It really does make all the difference!
As you read in Dr. Luft’s email this week, our district has a structured and organized re-opening plan for our K-12 students. Any parents of remote students choosing to return to in-school learning may do so by April 6th. Many of you have called my office already to discuss your options, and I look forward to hearing from more of you. Some students will choose to stay as remote learners until the end of the school year, and that is fine. I thank our incredible faculty for making this remote learning structure so engaging and effective.
Spring break will take place from Monday, March 29th, through Monday, April 5th. Schools will reopen on Tuesday, April 6th. At this time, New York State travel restrictions are still in place for out-of-state travel with specific quarantine guidelines, so please be sure to let us know if you are traveling out of NYS. I know that we are all looking forward to having things return to normal, with many healthy days ahead!
Please always reach out to your child’s teachers if you have any questions or concerns. We encourage open and positive communication throughout the school year. We are all in this together!
Sincerely,
Dr. Margaret Podesta
Principal
