Dear PVES Families,

Happy New Year! I hope that this message finds you happy and healthy, and that you have enjoyed a wonderful holiday break with your loved ones! We are looking forward to seeing our students in school tomorrow, and we can’t wait to watch them thrive as learners over the next few months. We have missed the students’ smiling faces over this past week, and it will be so great to reconnect tomorrow.

We know that this is a very tough time with our local Covid numbers right now. Please review safe mask-wearing with your children and encourage all good health practices, including good handwashing, social distancing, and staying in safe seating during lunch and snack times and on the bus. If your child must be quarantined due to sickness or contact with a positive case in or outside of school, he or she will receive Quarantine Instructional Support. (This QIS does not take place due to other reasons of absence). As you know, this QIS will not begin for 24 hours once the quarantine notice is received. If you have questions about this process, please email me directly at mpodesta@pvcsd.org.

As you know, if your children are displaying any symptoms of illness at all (headache, runny nose, sore throat, cough, fever), we ask that you keep them home from school. This a very contagious time, and although there are other minor colds and viruses going around, we do not want to take the chance of spreading any illness of any kind. Any students with symptoms will be brought to our isolation room, and parents will be called to pick them up promptly. Thank you for your understanding with this matter. We are working hard to keep our schools open.

As we look ahead, we know that our students have many exciting school days ahead this year. Together, we will get through this challenging time, and we will once again lead the way with safety, engagement, excitement, and student progress. We thank you for your continuous support and positive feedback. PVES is such an amazing learning community, and our students truly benefit from our home/school partnership.

I am wishing you all the very best in 2022. There are many wonderful, bright days coming our way!

My best,
Dr. Margaret Podesta
Principal
