Dear PVES Families,
We are off to a fantastic start at PVES, and I am so very proud of our elementary students who are adjusting so quickly to the new school year! Thank you for all you are doing to set your child up for great success in school! The regular routines, positive communication, and academic support mean so much! We look forward to sharing more with you this week at our Back to School Nights! All parents/guardians of students in grades 3 & 4 are invited to attend this important curriculum night at 6:30 PM on Tuesday, September 10th. All parents/guardians of students in grades 1 & 2 are invited at 6:30 PM on Wednesday, September 11th. You will begin the evening by meeting with our special area teachers and professional support staff. We will then all meet in the Auditorium at 7:00 PM before going into the individual classrooms to meet with your child’s teachers. Thank you for making every effort to attend, as a great deal of important information will be shared.
We encourage families to please label all student items so that if they are misplaced, they can be returned promptly. Please put your child’s last name on the inside of jackets, sweatshirts, hats, etc., and on the bottom of reusable water bottles. Our Lost & Found Collection grows quickly, and we want to make sure that all items can be returned.
As a reminder, we want to know from you if you would like your child to get the school breakfast each day. Please email Mrs. Tavares in our office at ltavares@pvcsd.org if your child is to eat breakfast at school each morning before the school day begins. Thank you for your help with this. All school lunches and breakfast main meals are free for our students this year.
We take school safety very seriously, and we will soon begin our mandated safety drills with the students. Please know that before any lockdown drills this year, families will be notified that these will be taking place, as per our new safety regulations. Our fire drills will soon begin as well, and our classroom teachers are reviewing these safety practices in a calm and reassuring way with our students already.
Thank you to our amazing PTA for organizing the PVES Picnic this past Thursday. It was wonderful to see so many families and staff members enjoying the beautiful weather, the growing friendships, and of course, the Bubble Bus! We also want to thank the PTA for setting up a Welcome Back Breakfast for our staff this past week! We are so lucky to have your support!
As students settle into the new year and academic demands begin to grow, we thank you for your positive support and encouragement with your children. Please be sure to reach out to your child’s teacher(s) if you have any questions or concerns. We look forward to working closely with you throughout the school year!
Have a great week ahead! See you at our BTS Nights!
Sincerely,
Dr. Margaret Podesta
