Dear PVES Families,

Thank you to so many of you who were able to attend our Back-to-School Nights this past week. It was great to see so many friendly faces, and I thank our teachers for being so prepared with their class curriculum presentations and service discussions. Our students will continue to benefit from our continuous teamwork and collaboration. If you were not able to see any of your child’s teachers and would like to connect, please reach out to them via email at
first initial, last name@pvcsd.org. First quarter in-person Parent/Teacher Conferences will take place in November. More information to come on that.

I would like to invite our PV Community First Responders to a special morning of read-alouds at PVES on Wednesday, October 26th, beginning at 9:00 AM. We invite all First Responders who live and work in the community to visit our school that morning for a short while so that you can read to the children and share about your very important work. Please make your neighbors aware of this event in case they can participate. If you would like to be part of this brief read-aloud morning as a First Responder, please email me at mpodesta@pvcsd.org. We look forward to this special event.

Your children are doing a wonderful job this year, and we are so proud of them. We have asked the students to please keep all toys from home (toys, dolls, Pokemon cards, baseball cards, electronics) at home or stored in their backpacks throughout the entire school day. The children have activities from school for recess participation, and we know that sometimes objects from home can get lost or broken. We do not allow our students to bring electronics (games, phones, Apple watches, etc.) into our elementary school. Thank you so much for your help with these important matters.

Please be reminded that there will be no school next week on Monday, September 26th, or Tuesday, September 27th, in observance of Rosh Hashanah. Schools will also be closed the next week on Wednesday, October 5th for Yom Kippur, and then on Monday, October 10th, in honor of Columbus Day. Schools will dismiss 15 minutes early on Friday, October 7th, as part of an emergency evacuation drill. Please mark your calendars to be at the bus stops early that day.

Mrs. Picco and I will be presenting our “Opening of Schools Report” at the PVCSD Board of Education meeting this Thursday evening, September 22nd, at 7:00 PM. Please feel free to attend or to watch the livestream of the meeting. We appreciate your interest and support!

Enjoy the beautiful week ahead. We look forward to welcoming in the season of fall on this Thursday, September 22nd. Our elementary campus is cleaned, trimmed, and planted, and we are all looking forward to using our wonderful outdoor learning areas during this beautiful season of the year.

Thank you for a great beginning!

Sincerely,
Dr. Margaret Podesta
Principal
