Dear PVES Families,
School starts tomorrow, and we are so excited! PVES is looking great, (thank you, Custodians!) and we are all ready to welcome our elementary students to the 2026-27 school year. (Half of each Kindergarten class will start school tomorrow, and the other half of each Kindergarten class will start school on Thursday. All Kindergarten students will attend school on Friday and onward).
All students in grades 1 through 4 will have full days of school on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday of this week. Schools will be closed on Monday, September 7th, in honor of Labor Day.
Please be sure to respond to Mrs. Tavares’s email regarding our free school breakfast. Only students who have signed up for school breakfast will visit the cafeteria in the mornings before the school day begins.
Please remember that your child can bring a lunch or get a school lunch at no cost. Only extra snacks and second servings are charged to the child’s account. All students should bring a healthy snack to enjoy in the classroom. (No juice, caffeinated beverages, soda, etc. will be allowed). We also want to remind you that our students do not chew gum in school, and the popular “squishy” toys are not allowed. Students are to leave all electronics, including cell phones, Smart watches, iPads, etc. at home. Thank you so much for your support.
Our school officially runs from 9:12 AM until 3:20 PM. Children who are being dropped off by parents/guardians will be able to enter the building after 8:50 each morning. Parents can begin picking students up in the afternoon at 3:20 at the cafeteria entrance of our school.
Please email Mrs. Sillery in our office with any questions about dismissal plans for your child. Mrs. Sillery can be reached at dsillery@pvcsd.org or by calling our main office at 845-528-8092. Please use the Dismissal Pad notes for changes in your child’s dismissal plans. These notes can be put in your child’s Take Home (homework) folder.
If you are in need of a backpack or school supplies for your child, please do not hesitate to contact me at mpodesta@pvcsd.org. We have had generous donations by the local Big G’s Backpack Drive, and we would welcome the chance to share these supplies where needed.
It’s time for the buses to start rolling, the pencils to be sharpened, and the homework routines to start. It’s going to be an amazing year, and we thank you in advance for your positivity, your support, and your partnership. Let’s make it a wonderful year for your precious children!
Sincerely,
Dr. Margaret Podesta
Principal
