Dear PVES Families,

Happy PV Pride Day!  As you know, every first Friday of the month is our PV Pride Day at the elementary school, and all staff and students are welcome to wear blue and white to show pride in our wonderful school.  We begin our day singing our PV Pride Song after morning announcements, and we look forward to another productive and exciting month ahead.  The fall weather has finally arrived, and our students are growing and learning every day.  We are so proud of them!

Today, all schools will dismiss 15 minutes early, as part of an Emergency Dismissal Plan.  Please be at your children’s bus stops early.  There will be no school on Monday, October 8th, in honor of Columbus Day.  Enjoy the beautiful weekend ahead!

Thank you to all of our PTA volunteers who helped to make our School Picture Day run so smoothly.  We greatly appreciate the time and effort given by these parents on this busy day at PVES.  Picture retake/make-up day will be on November 9th.

We would also like to thank our PV parents who will serve as our Classroom Parents this year.  I thank these parents for attending our recent annual Class Parent Tea, where information was shared by teachers about this year’s classroom events and class directories.   We look forward to working with you throughout the year, and we thank you for your help.

Please carefully check the Weekly Notices for announcements and opportunities that may pertain to your child.  Many of our clubs are starting up for the school year, along with our Gym Show practices and other events.  Our Fall Safety Patrollers are doing a great job keeping us safe at arrival and dismissal every day, and we thank these fourth graders for their leadership in our school.

On Wednesday, October 31st, our students will be invited to bring their Halloween costumes to school for a special child-centered event that day.  This annual parade is for students and staff only, and we look forward to the festivities both in and out of the classroom.   The costumes are optional, of course, and we ask that children do not wear any scary masks or carry costume weapons.  Thank you for your help with this.

Our students will learn about Fire Prevention Week next week, with help from our wonderful Putnam Valley Fire Department.  We thank our community members who give so much to our school!

Tickets are still available for the Harlem Wizards Game at PVHS on October 11th at 6:30 PM.  Be sure to join the fun at this wonderful event!

Enjoy the weekend and these wonderful autumn days.  Thank you for all you do to have your children ready to learn each and every day.

Warmly,

Ms. Podesta

Principal
