Dear PVES Families,
I hope that you are catching up on the lost hour of sleep and that you are looking forward to the extra sunlight in the warmer afternoons ahead this week. The official start of spring will be here soon, and all of this year’s snow and ice will be a distant memory. We are looking forward to a busy and productive season of spring at PVES.
The PVES musical, “Schoolhouse Rock, Live, Jr.” will be taking place this Friday, March 13th, at 7:00 PM. Everyone in attendance must have a ticket. There are some tickets still available for the performance. If you are interested in attending, please email Mrs. Phillips at cphillips@pvcsd.org. Thank you to Mrs. Phillips, Mrs. Bennett, and Mr. Durland for their amazing work with our young performers!
We will be holding a mandatory lockdown drill at PVES this week. As you know, our safety drills are always conducted efficiently and safely, with local state police visiting our school to oversee the process. We are sure to reassure our students in a calm and caring way, while we teach about safety protocols.
Please be sure to have your children check our Lost & Found Collection in the front lobby if they are missing sweatshirts, jackets, hats or water bottles. It is important to label the inside tags of all clothes, lunchboxes, and backpacks so that misplaced items can be returned promptly.
Schools will be closed for students on Friday, March 20th for Superintendent’s Conference Day. Spring Break will take place from Monday, March 30th, through Monday, April 6th. Schools will reopen on Tuesday, April 7th.
We are looking forward to our PTA/PVES Spring Book Fair which will be held during the week of March 23rd through March 27th. Each class will have a scheduled time to visit the fair. We are also looking forward to our 4th Grade Science/Maker Fair on Wednesday, March 18th, from 6:30 to 7:15 PM. Everyone is welcome.
Let’s have a great week ahead. Thank you for supporting your child’s regular homework and reading routines, and limiting the amount of screen time allowed at home. We are working together to build a strong foundation of learning and growth.
Thank you, as always, for your partnership.
Sincerely,
Dr. Margaret Podesta
Principal
