Dear PVES Families,
Happy Sunday! And happy daylight savings time. Although we all had one less hour of “sleep time” last night, the students will certainly enjoy the additional hour of sunlight after school each day. I encourage all children to enjoy the fresh air while they play creatively outside, before or after their homework is completed. This is a fresh and exciting time of year, and warmer days are ahead.
There will be no school for students this Wednesday, March 13th, because of Superintendent’s Conference Day. Schools will reopen on Thursday, March 14th. Our spring break will take place from Friday, March 29th, through Friday, April 5th. Schools will reopen on Monday, April 8th. In looking ahead, please note that our Elementary students (only) will have a half-day of school on Thursday, May 23rd, before Memorial Day Weekend. There will be a 12:00 dismissal on that day before the long weekend.
All staff and students are invited to wear the color green on this Friday, March 15th. We look forward to welcoming some young, local performers who will provide an Irish Step Dancing Assembly for us. Our PVES kids are so lucky!
Congratulations to our fourth-grade scientists who presented at our PVES Science/Maker Fair this past week. The students were extremely well-prepared, and their presentations were detailed, carefully researched, and informative! Thank you so much to Mrs. Bruno and Mrs. Broas for their facilitation of this wonderful work, and we also thank our high school science students who helped to guide our fourth-graders in their studies. What an amazing academic event this was!
We have so many wonderful things happening at PVES. Our third and fourth-grade musical, Seussical Kids, will be performed on Friday, March 22nd at 7:00 PM. (Get your tickets!) We have a team of teachers collaborating to plan a special ENL Night for our elementary families, and a 3rd & 4th Grade Magic Math Night is being planned for later this spring. Our Spring Book Fair will be held from March 25th through March 28th. Thursday, March 28th, will be a School-wide Pajama Day before we all head off to spring break. Our third and fourth-grade students successfully participated in practice testing days for ELA and Math, and they made us so proud. And, our Building Steering Committee is creating a document that should be very helpful to all new and current families, containing a great deal of school and community information needed by our families. We keep working hard, and we truly appreciate your support!
Please remember that the PVEF is hosting a Casino Night on Saturday, March 23rd! Please attend if you can! And thank you to our PTA for hosting exciting grade level events that are posted on our calendar. Please also carefully check the Weekly Notices for upcoming clubs and calendar events.
Thank you for checking in with your children’s teachers if you have any academic or social concerns. We thank you for your positive communication and partnership.
Have a wonderful week ahead!
Sincerely,
Dr. Margaret Podesta
Principal
