Dear PVES Families,

I hope that you are staying safe and warm on this incredibly snowy day. As you know, schools will be closed tomorrow, Monday, due to the weather. Please stay posted for any further updates once the storm clean-up begins.

We are now beginning the third quarter of the school year. Report Cards will be available online and in the mail by early February. As always, if you have any questions regarding your child’s academic or behavioral progress, please reach out to your child’s teacher(s). We value open communication, and we can meet in person or virtually to discuss your child’s growth. We thank you for your partnership and support.

The 4th Grade Winter Concert will take place this Wednesday, January 28th, at 7:00 PM. All fourth grade families are invited. Thank you to Mr. Durland and to Mrs. Bennett for their incredible work with our young musicians and singers.

It will soon be time for the Winter Olympics and the Super Bowl! All staff and students are welcome to wear sports jerseys, jackets, or t-shirts to school on Friday, February 6th. We will celebrate sportsmanship, fitness, participation, and healthy competition. In the next week, all students will also be shown a short kid-friendly video on cardiac health and emergency response. This short mandated video is required in schools, and it simply promotes safety and getting adult help.

If you have a child who will be 5 years old by 12/1/26, please be sure to call our main office at 845-528-8092 to sign up for Kindergarten registration. Thank you for sharing this information with others. We look forward to welcoming our youngest students and seeing them at our Kindergarten Screening appointments in mid-May.

All students should be reminded that they should not be bringing toys, trading cards, or any electronics to school, including Smartwatches. We have many toys and materials at school for the children, and we thank you for keeping all personal toys, Smartwatches, and trading items at home. We appreciate you following up with your children about this.

Everyone is invited to wear the colors red, pink, or white to school on Friday, February 13th, for Friendship Day! Schools will be closed from Monday, February 16th, through Friday, February 20th, for winter break.

Have a cozy couple of days at home, and stay safe! We will start the second half of the school year strong!

Sincerely,
Dr. Margaret Podesta
Principal
