Dear PVES Families,
I hope that you all enjoyed the long weekend, as we honored Dr. Martin Luther King. Our weekend has now been extended due to the slippery road conditions. Please be careful in your travels, and stay warm! I hope that the children have the chance to play outside safely. Our students do not play in the snow during outdoor recess, and they do not go outside when the weather is extremely cold or raw. However, it is important that the children wear long pants and warm jackets to school, because they are able to play outside on most winter days.
Congratulations to our fourth-grade teacher, Mrs. Allison Gannon, on the birth of her baby girl yesterday! Miss Gianna Mae Gannon was born on January 15th, weighing in at 6 lb. 9 oz. Congratulations to Mrs. Gannon and her husband on the birth of their beautiful daughter. We are thrilled to be welcoming back Ms. Cierra Espineira, who will be the long-term substitute in this classroom for the next few months. Our students are in great hands!
Our Kindergarten Registration appointments continue to be scheduled. If you have a child who will be turning 5 years old by December 1, 2024, you can call our main office to schedule an appointment. We are looking forward to the Fourth Grade Band & Chorus Concert on Thursday, January 25th, at 7:00 PM. We welcome our fourth-grade families to this musical event. Our students always do such a nice job, both in and out of the classroom!
As we approach the midpoint of the school year, our students continue to make great progress in all academic areas. Our teachers are busy assessing the students’ academic growth, setting new learning goals for the next quarter. This includes computerized iReady Assessments for students in Grades 2-4 in ELA and Math. (NYS Exams will be administered to students in Grades 3 & 4 in the spring). Report Cards will be made available online by the beginning of February. Report Cards will also be mailed home via U.S. mail. As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please contact your child’s teacher(s) directly.
Enjoy the week ahead. Please remember to have a back-up plan in case of weather-related school delays or early dismissals. The weather is a bit unpredictable this winter!
