Dear PVES Families,
We have a bright and sunny start to another full week of school, and we are hoping that you are all staying healthy through these winter months. Please remind your children to wash their hands frequently and get plenty of rest on these cold days. Students who have been sick with fever, vomiting, etc. should not return to school for a full 24 hours after symptoms have occurred. Thank you so much for helping to keep our learning community healthy and safe.
Thank you to our PTA Arts in Ed for providing us with wonderful Character Education assemblies by “Beth and Scott” last week. Our students were able to join in the singing, role play, and movement that accompanied these very important lessons about self-control, kindness, and respect. We are so grateful.
We look forward to seeing many of our K, 1, and 2 parents (and their grade level students) at our ELA Night on Thursday, January 30th from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM. This will be a wonderful learning night, focusing on the components of our English Language Arts curriculum, that parents and students can enjoy together. Please RSVP to us if you plan on attending!
It is time to begin collecting information for our upcoming Kindergarten Registration dates. If you have a child who will be 5 years old by December 1, 2025, please call our main office at 845-528-8092 so that you will be included in our Kindergarten Registration mailings and communications. Registration appointments will begin in February, and Kindergarten Screening dates are scheduled for May. Please share this information with friends and neighbors in our district who have children who will be 5 years old by December. We look forward to meeting our newest group of learners!
Our PTA will be hosting a “Family Fun Day” on this Saturday, January 18th, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM at PVES. Please see the PTA flyer for more details. This sounds like a great time!
Please be reminded that there will be no school on Monday, January 20th, in honor of Martin Luther King Day. Schools will also be closed on Wednesday, January 29th, in honor of the Lunar New Year. Please mark your calendars!
Our PVCSD Capital Projects Vote will be held on Tuesday, January 28th, in the PVES Cafeteria. Please be sure to review shared information about the details of this district vote, and reach out to our district office if you have any questions. Thank you for voting at the Elementary School between 6 AM and 9 PM on January 28th!
We are looking forward to our Grade 4 Winter Concert on Wednesday, January 22nd, at 7:00 PM at PVES. Thank you to our general music teacher, Mr. Durland, and to our band/instrumental teacher, Mrs. Bennett, for their wonderful work with our young performers.
Our students were not able to enjoy too many outdoor recess times last week due to the strong winds and low temperatures. We will see what the January weather brings this week. Dress warmly, and enjoy every day!
Sincerely,
Dr. Margaret Podesta
Principal
