Dear PVES Families,
I hope that your month of January and the year of 2026 is off to a smooth and happy start. Our students returned to PVES ready to work and learn this past week, and the weather cooperated so that we could enjoy outdoor recess on most days. January is certainly a busy month in our building as we approach the midpoint of the year and prepare for Report Cards to be completed by the end of this month. As usual, if you have any questions about your child’s academic progress, please reach out to your child’s teacher.
Schools will be closed on Monday, January 19th for Martin Luther King Day. Our February break will take place from Monday, February 16th through Friday, February 20th.
We are now taking calls for Kindergarten Registration for the 2026-27 school year! If you have a child who will be 5 years old by 12/1/26, please call our main office at 845-528-8092 to set up a registration appointment. (Current UPK students are already on our list). We will be setting up Kindergarten Screening appointments for mid-May. Thank you for sharing this information with your friends and neighbors. We look forward to meeting our newest students.
We are looking forward to our 4th Grade Winter Concert, which will take place on Wednesday, January 28th, at 7:00 PM in our PVES Auditorium. (Snow date: January 29th). Fourth Grade families should review the letter sent by Mr. Durland and Mrs. Bennett this past week. This is sure to be a wonderful show!
As we look toward February, please note that in honor of the Super Bowl and the love of sports, all staff and students are welcome to dress for Sports Jersey Day on Friday, February 6th. (Sports jerseys, t-shirts, club, dance shirts, etc. are all welcome)! We are also celebrating our PVES “Friendship Day” on Friday, February 13th, and all are welcome to wear the colors red, pink or white.
Please check the Weekly Notices for upcoming events and club notices. Keep reading with your children and supporting their strong attendance and homework routines. We appreciate your partnership!
Have a wonderful week ahead!
Sincerely,
Dr. Margaret Podesta
Principal
