Dear PVES Families,
We are making it through a very frosty winter spell, with some higher temperatures on the way for this week. Our classrooms are quite comfortable, warm and perfect for learning, and the children do enjoy their indoor recess activities. Hopefully, we will be able to get outside for recess at some point this week!
Congratulations to our fourth graders who performed so well in their Winter Concert this past Wednesday! What a wonderful show! Thank you to Mr. Durland and to Mrs. Bennett on their terrific work with our young musicians and singers. We are so proud!
Our mid-year Report Cards will become available online at the end of this week, and they will be mailed to your homes by early next week. As always, if you have any questions about your child’s academic progress, please reach out to your child’s teacher(s) directly. All faculty members can be reached via email at first initial, last name @ pvcsd.org.
World Read Aloud Day is this Wednesday, February 4th. We will certainly be celebrating this day in our elementary classrooms, but please take some time to do some extra reading aloud with your children at home. What a gift to them this is!
We are all looking forward to the Winter Olympics and the upcoming Super Bowl! In honor of these events, and to celebrate the love of sports, fitness, and healthy lifestyles, we are inviting all staff and students to dress for Sports Jersey Day this Friday, February 6th. All sports shirts can be worn, including professional jerseys and t-shirts, uniforms from local teams and dance studios, karate, and all other sports we love. Thank you for marking your calendars!
We are also looking forward to Friendship Day, which we will celebrate on Friday, February 13th. All students and staff are invited to wear the colors pink, red, or white on this day, to help celebrate Kindness and Friendship. These are our Character Education themes for the month of February, and we look forward to focusing on Kindness in all that we do. Each class will read and discuss a shared Character Ed book to highlight this monthly theme.
All families with children who will be 5 years old by December 1, 2026 should call our main office to sign up for Kindergarten Registration. Please share this information with your friends and neighbors. Thank you!
Schools will be closed from February 16th through February 20th, for winter break. Our spring break is scheduled from March 30th through April 6th.
Enjoy the week ahead. Let’s see what that Groundhog tells us on Monday!
Sincerely,
Dr. Margaret Podesta
Principal
