Dear PVES Families,

The month of February has finally arrived, and we are now at the midpoint of this wonderful school year! Report Cards went live online on PowerSchool on Friday (yesterday) at 4:30 PM, and hard copies will be mailed via U.S. mail at the beginning of the week. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact your child’s teacher to set up a meeting. We know that many of you have been in contact with your child’s teachers over the past few weeks, and we appreciate your communication and partnership. We are all working together!

Congratulations to our fourth graders on their amazing Winter Concert that took place this past week. The students were so well-prepared, and the band and the chorus performances were just wonderful. Thank you to Mrs. Bennett and to Mrs. Calhoun for your outstanding work with these young performers. It was a very special event!

All fourth-grade students should be reminded that their Science/Maker Fair permission slips should be brought to school by Friday, February 7th. We are looking forward to an exciting and innovative Science/Maker Fair on Wednesday, March 18th. The evening event for families will take place at 6:30 PM in the big gym. Please mark your calendars!

February is Black History Month! Our students will take part in lessons with this focus that are naturally integrated into their Social Studies and ELA activities. Our students are working hard to write both fiction and non-fiction pieces that incorporate text evidence into their well-planned writing that relates to their reading. We are so impressed with our students’ abilities and eagerness to grow!

This year, our school calendar has a full five days off for February break. Schools will be closed from Monday, February 17th, through Friday, February 21st.

Sports Jersey Day was lots of fun. We hope you enjoy the Super Bowl. It looks like it will feel like spring when we all return to school on Monday! Will the Groundhog see his shadow?

Happy weekend!

Warmly,
Ms. Podesta
