Dear PVES Families,

Thank you to our community members for supporting the Facilities Bond Project with the public vote this week.  We look forward to improving and adding to our school facilities in the near future.  Our elementary students will benefit from these projects for years to come, and we thank you for your support.

Our first-grade classes will be performing their Winter Concert on Thursday, December 13th, at 2:00 PM in the PVES Auditorium.  First grade families are welcome to attend.  I know our students will make us smile with pride!

Please ask your children about the use of Mood Meters in their classrooms!  As we continue to focus on Social Emotional Learning, our district is using the Yale RULER approach.  Each classroom has its own version of a “Mood Meter,” where students can think independently about how they are feeling, and what emotions are helping them to access learning that day.  This is making for great conversations, communication, and emotional awareness.  I thank the PVES teachers for their enthusiasm and participation in this innovative and meaningful model of learning and connecting with our students.

Please remember that our elementary students are going outside for recess on most winter days!  The recess block is 25 minutes in length, and unless it is brutally cold or wet, the children will be outside for fresh air, play, and exercise.  Thank you for making sure that your children have proper winter attire to stay warm while outside. We appreciate your cooperation.

Just a reminder that the PTA Holiday Reads is this Saturday, December 8th, in the PVES Cafeteria, from 11 AM to 2 PM.  Please join the PTA for crafts, stories, and treats.

Congratulations to Mrs. Soprano on the birth of her baby girl, Emersyn Kate.  We wish the Soprano family much health and happiness with their new little girl!

I hope that the holiday season is starting off in a calm but festive way for all of you.  This is such a special time of year, and the magic of the holidays is most clearly seen in the excitement of young children.  We look forward to a school-wide PAJAMA DAY on Thursday, December 20th, and a school-wide HOLIDAY SWEATER/FESTIVE WEAR DAY on Friday, December 21st.  Lots of fun ahead!

Today is PV Pride Day!  All students and staff are invited to wear blue and white.  We have lots to celebrate at PVES!

Have a great weekend!

Warmly,

Ms. Podesta
