Dear PVES Families,

Our wonderful summertime is soon coming to an end, and we are so excited to welcome all of our students back to Putnam Valley Elementary School for the 2026-27 school year! The classrooms and hallways are ready, and a new playground will soon be built for all elementary-aged children to enjoy! We have so much to look forward to this year, and we can’t wait to see our students on Wednesday, September 2nd. We have missed you so much!

Our new Kindergarten students will be receiving their class placement information in the mail any day now. We look forward to our Kindergarten Bus Run and Kindergarten Back to School Night this Thursday, August 27th.

Class placement for students in Grades 1 through 4 will be emailed to you later this week. The email packet will also include district calendar information, PowerSchool info, bus route details, a Teacher Welcome Letter, and school supply lists. Please know that a great deal of care has been put into the class placement for all of our students, and we will not be making changes to class lists. We thank you in advance for your support and your trust in the work that we do.

You will learn a great deal of information about your child’s school year at our upcoming Back to School Nights on Tuesday, September 8th (Grades 3 & 4), and on Wednesday, September 9th (Grades 1 & 2). You may visit our Specials teachers and Professional Support Staff from 6:30 to 7:00 on both evenings, with our main meeting beginning in the Auditorium at 7:00 on these nights. These evening presentations are for parents and guardians only, and we always aim to have 100% attendance. Thank you so much for your participation!

Each week, this weekly newsletter (The Weekly Word) will be sent to your email address and posted on our Elementary website at www.pvcsd.org. Thank you for taking a few minutes each week to read The Weekly Word (and any Weekly Notice attachments) in order to be informed of upcoming events involving your child. There is always so much going on in our school!

Enjoy the final days of summer. This is the beginning of something great!

Warmly,
Dr. Margaret Podesta
Principal
