Dear PVES Families,

Believe it or not, we are already approaching the final days of April, and those beautiful May flowers are beginning to bloom. I hope you are enjoying this lovely time of year with your children. We are inviting all of you to attend our PVES Planting Day on Tuesday, May 20th, from 4:30 to 6:00 PM. Bring your gardening tools and flowers, and please join the fun as we work to make our school campus even more beautiful! We hope you and your children can attend this special event!

Congratulations to our Fourth Grade Scientists who participated in the Tri County Science Fair yesterday in Rye, NY. PVES was well-represented with multiple second and third-place winners in this large area competition. We are so proud of all our participants who worked so hard with Mrs. Bruno and Mrs. Broas for this special event. Thank you to the parents for all your support. All PVES Science/Maker Fair participants are to be congratulated!

Third Quarter Progress Reports will be mailed to your homes this week. If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to your child’s teacher(s). We look forward to continued growth and learning through the final quarter of the school year.

We will soon be holding our Kindergarten Screening Days for our incoming Kindergarten class. As a reminder, please share with your friends and neighbors that if they have a child who will be 5 years old by 12/1/25, they can call our school at (845) 528-8092 to register for Kindergarten. If a family has a child who will be 4 years old by 12/1/25, they may be interested in the Universal Pre-K that is being offered on our elementary campus beginning next year. Please see the district information that was shared regarding the application and lottery process for this wonderful new program in our community.

Our third and fourth grade students will take their NYS ELA tests this week, and their NYS Math tests next week. Our students are extremely well prepared for these exams, and I thank our entire faculty for the excellent instruction that takes place in our school. Thank you for having your students well-rested and ready to start school on time, with a good breakfast to start the day.

Congratulations to our retirees, Mrs. Cheryl Kahn and Mrs. Kathy Marsico, who were celebrated at last week’s Board of Education meeting. We wish them the very best. Congratulations also to our teacher tenure recipients: Mrs. Jess Knuth, Miss Julianna Shalhoub, Mrs. Melissa Sullivan, and Mr. Tom Wharton.

Enjoy the week ahead. It looks like warmer days are on the way!

Sincerely,
Dr. Margaret Podesta
Principal
