Dear PVES Families,

We are so proud of our students! We have had a full week of wonderful learning, and our third and fourth graders gave their best effort on their NYS English Language Arts tests during these past two days. As you know, these assessments provide our schools with important information on how our school is doing, and how we can best support our students’ learning. The exams also help us to know how well our curriculum is aligned to the state learning standards. I commend our faculty for the amazing work they do every day with your children. PVES truly provides the foundation for lifelong learning and amazing accomplishments!

Please be reminded that today marks the end of the third quarter of the school year. As you know, next Friday, April 20th, will be a half day of school for our elementary students, with a 12:00 dismissal taking place at PVES. Brief Progress Reports will be provided for each student providing benchmark information for this point in the school year. Some of our parents have been invited to meet with teachers on Friday afternoon. If you would like to meet with any of your child’s teachers (classroom, AIS, specials, support staff), please call 845-528-8092, or send those teachers an email at (first initial, last name @pvcsd.org). We look forward to communicating clearly with you as we approach the final quarter of the school year.

As spring approaches, please be sure to check the district website calendar scroll carefully. We certainly get busy at this time of year, and there are many exciting events approaching. The PTA is welcoming our grade three families to the PTA Grade Level Event this evening at 6:30 in the Auditorium. The Grade 3 Recorder Concert will be held on Thursday, April 26th, at 7:00 PM. The fourth grade classes will be preparing for their amazing Revolutionary War Reenactment, which will take place on Thursday, May 17th. And, we have many field trips and classroom celebrations approaching in the months ahead. Thank you for staying informed on all of these calendar details, as they are so important to your children.

This week, we welcomed back Mrs. Christine Swansen to second grade from her childcare leave. Congratulations again to Mrs. Swansen on the birth of her third little boy, Nolan. I also want to thank Miss Natalie Gomez, who took over during Mrs. Swansen’s leave. We will miss her very much, and we wish Miss Gomez continued success in her new teaching position.

It looks as though we are getting a true taste of beautiful spring weather this weekend, even if only for a bit. Enjoy the fresh air and the spring activities with your students. It’s been a long winter! Our school garden will be blooming soon!

Thank you, as always, for all you do to support our important work with your children. We couldn’t do it without you!

Warmly,

Ms. Podesta
