Dear Community Members:

After screening 10 candidates and asking 6 candidates to come back for a second round of interviews, the interview committee has recommended Nicole Mangiere as the next Putnam Valley Middle School Assistant Principal.  It is expected that the Board of Education will appoint Ms. Mangiere as Assistant Principal at their next meeting, Tuesday, April 18.

Ms. Mangiere comes to us from the KIPP Academy in New York City and has experience teaching grades 5, 6 and 8.  In addition, she has served as a Curriculum Specialist and School Director at a Teach for America summer school site.  She also taught third and fourth grade at PS110X. As the Director of Leadership Development at KIPP, Ms. Mangiere has coordinated school initiatives and ensured that grade level leaders collaborate to provide a continuum of programming that is developmentally appropriate for students.  She has coordinated guided reading professional development and collaborated with consultants to coach guided reading teachers. Ms. Mangiere is a strategic and visionary leader with rich knowledge of curriculum, assessment, instruction, and scheduling.

A graduate of Cornell University, Ms. Mangiere earned a degree in Communications with a minor in Education. While at Cornell, she was inspired to become a teacher and joined Teach for America.   She earned her masters in Educational Leadership from Bank Street College of Education.  Those that work closely with Ms. Mangiere describe her as extremely organized, energetic, supportive, and ambitious.  She brings a systematic approach and perspective when planning and is always looking for ways to improve educational opportunities for children.  Ms. Mangiere will be a wonderful addition to our community and will help to oversee programs while working collaboratively with administration, teachers and community members.

We look forward to welcoming Ms. Mangiere to the PVCSD community effective, July 1, 2017.

Sincerely,

Dr. Frances Wills
Superintendent of Schools
