UPDATE – School Budget Vote Ballots – Executive Order from Governor Cuomo

Dear Putnam Valley Community:

As per the Governor’s Executive Order, released today, the deadline for receipt of mailed absentee ballots for the Putnam Valley Central School District Budget Vote and Election has been extended to 5:00 pm on Tuesday, June 16.

Ballots may be dropped off in the secure lockbox at the District Office (171 Oscawana Lake Road – behind the elementary school) only until 5 pm on Tuesday, June 9.  After June 9, ballots can only be accepted when delivered by U.S. Mail through 5 pm on Tuesday, June 16. Ballot envelopes will not be opened and counted until after 5 pm on June 16.

6/7/20 Executive Order: Sections 2018-a and 2018-b of the Education Law, to the extent necessary to allow any absentee ballot for an election held on June 9, 2020 and received by mail in the office of the clerk of the school district or designee of the trustees or school board not later than June 16, 2020 to be canvassed for such election.  No ballots for such election shall be accepted by the clerk of the school district or designee of the trustees or school board after 5 p.m. on June 9, 2020 except those received by mail in accordance with this provision. Any receptacle used for hand delivery of absentee ballots in such election shall be closed and removed at 5 p.m. on June 9, 2020; The ballots therein shall remain unopened pending delivery of mailed ballots, and shall be removed and canvassed after 5 p.m. on June 16, 2020;

All registered voters were mailed an absentee ballot. The District Office will be open from 6 pm to 8 pm this evening, and tomorrow from 7 am until 5 pm to accept ballots.

Ballots must be received by the District Clerk no later than 5:00 pm on Tuesday, June 9, 2020.

In order to assist voters in casting their ballot within the required deadline, the District Office (white building located behind the Elementary School at 171 Oscawana Lake Road) will be open and accepting ballots on the following days at the listed times. Voters will be able to place the ballots in a secured locked box in the vestibule of the office. Ballots do not have to be dropped off by the actual voter; however, the oath/affirmation envelope must be signed and dated on the back for the ballot to be valid.

All ballots must be received by the District Clerk by 5:00 pm on Tuesday, June 9, 2020.
