{"id":9918,"date":"2022-01-31T21:46:54","date_gmt":"2022-02-01T02:46:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pvcsd.org\/?p=9918"},"modified":"2022-01-31T21:47:54","modified_gmt":"2022-02-01T02:47:54","slug":"february-2022","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pvcsd.org\/index.php\/ms\/middle-school-letter\/february-2022\/","title":{"rendered":"February 2022"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright  wp-image-9920\" src=\"http:\/\/pvcsd.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/feb.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"204\" height=\"330\" \/>Dear PVMS Families,<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We have made it to the midpoint of the school year and February is upon us.\u00a0 The cold weather has settled in and as a result we spend much more time inside.\u00a0 Take advantage of opportunities to get outside and\/or be active with indoor sports.\u00a0 At this time it is vital to speak with your children about the impact people can have on one another, and to review your child\u2019s overall progress this year.\u00a0 Partner with us in reminding your children to make good choices.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Take the time to check Powerschool and see that your children are completing their assignments.\u00a0 Students must attend their Google Meets when quarantined and attend school regularly in order to be productive and to excel academically.\u00a0 Our teachers have been extremely flexible and we are hopeful that everyone is engaged in work completion and mastery of our standards.\u00a0 Teachers may reach out to provide additional times to meet and catch students up on missed work.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Since we have reached the midpoint of the school year it is a nice opportunity to schedule a meeting with your child\u2019s teachers.\u00a0 This would be accomplished through a Google Meet and it raises awareness around expectations, what is going well, and what can be improved.\u00a0 Please contact your child\u2019s grade level team leader to schedule a time to meet as I would encourage all families to do so at least one time throughout the school year.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Grade 5 \u2013 Lauren Soprano &#8211; sreilly<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">@pvcsd.org<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Grade 8 \u2013 Phyllis Conlin &#8211; pconlin@pvcsd.org<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On Monday, February 7th we will be sending home paper copies of report cards that will provide information for the first and second quarters of the school year.\u00a0 Please be on the lookout for these and contact your child\u2019s teacher(s) if you have any questions.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We will also be making a change to our practice of recognizing students who attain honor roll and high honor roll status.\u00a0 Currently this is noted on report cards, posted on our PVMS website, and shared on our displays in school.\u00a0 The list of students will now be shared on social media through district communications.\u00a0 In addition, families of students that meet the criteria will receive a ConnectEd phone call letting them know to check their email.\u00a0 We will send electronic certificates for both honor roll and high honor roll in a pdf format.\u00a0 Congratulations to all of our students who work to reach this status.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Winter Recess will take place from February 21st through February 25th.\u00a0 Students will not have school on these days.\u00a0 Classes will resume on Monday, February 28th.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">With winter in full force and the snowfall upon us, please make sure that students have a plan if we were to dismiss early.\u00a0 We want to ensure all students have a place to go and\/or a key to a house.\u00a0 This will help reduce the anxiety that an early dismissal brings.\u00a0 In addition, our delay schedules can be found on our website.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Please continue to monitor your children for any illness or symptoms and consider taking a COVID test if they become symptomatic.\u00a0 In the event that symptoms develop, your child must begin to quarantine and be cleared before returning to school.\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As always, we partner to give children the best experience possible.\u00a0 We look forward to a great start to the second half of our school year.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sincerely,<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Travis W.
