{"id":9717,"date":"2021-11-30T21:34:02","date_gmt":"2021-12-01T02:34:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pvcsd.org\/?p=9717"},"modified":"2021-11-30T21:34:10","modified_gmt":"2021-12-01T02:34:10","slug":"december-2021","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pvcsd.org\/index.php\/ms\/middle-school-letter\/december-2021\/","title":{"rendered":"December 2021"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-9718\" src=\"http:\/\/pvcsd.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/unnamed.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"286\" height=\"254\" srcset=\"https:\/\/pvcsd.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/unnamed.jpg 500w, https:\/\/pvcsd.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/unnamed-197x175.jpg 197w, https:\/\/pvcsd.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/unnamed-394x350.jpg 394w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 286px) 100vw, 286px\" \/><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dear PVMS Families,<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We have made it to December and anticipate a busy month ahead.\u00a0 I am hopeful that you were able to enjoy Thanksgiving Break with your families as a time to relax and be thankful for what we have.\u00a0 This month always seems to move by quickly!\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Did You Know?<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In late November our PVMS Student Council had an extremely successful food drive.\u00a0 Together we collected more than 1,400 items, which will be donated to the Putnam Valley Food Pantry as well as other local pantries.\u00a0 One of our 6th grade students, Abigail Kui,\u00a0 donated 352 items!\u00a0 We want to thank all of our students and families who donated to such a great cause over the holiday season.\u00a0 Thank you again for your generosity and making our food drive an overwhelming success!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">At this point we are welcoming in the winter season. As it is rare we have not had a substantial snowfall yet, there does appear to be snow in the forecast.\u00a0 Colder temperatures are upon us, so please have your children bundle up.\u00a0 They should be wearing jackets and be prepared for outdoor recess and physical education classes while enjoying the fresh air.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We have many items of clothing in our lost and found.\u00a0 A vast majority of the items are sweatshirts and jackets. Please label all of your child\u2019s items so that we can return them if they are misplaced.\u00a0 Feel free to remind your children to check the lost and found if you are missing items.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Reminders:<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>There is always the possibility of snow or icy roads moving forward and to have a contingency plan in place.<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0 In the case that we may have an early dismissal, it is imperative to provide your children with a house key or a plan to go to a neighbor\u2019s or relative\u2019s house.\u00a0 We do not want your children to panic or need to make last minute plans as this will impact their emotional state and distress them in a time where this doesn\u2019t need to be the case.\u00a0 Create a plan and be prepared as this will help everyone to be where they need to be without creating stress during these situations.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>As the pandemic continues to impact our daily lives, please note the following if your child is quarantined.<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Students should check their email for communication from their teachers.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Students should follow their daily schedules and check Google Classroom for each of their classes as most will open up Google Meets to listen to instruction.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Students can email their teachers with questions about any assignments they are working on.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Teachers are responsible for their students&#8217; education and will ensure that they do not fall behind while being quarantined.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Upcoming Events:<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The PVMS Student Council will be hosting its <\/span><b>Second Annual Coat Drive<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> from December 1st through December 10th, benefiting our local communities and distributed through the First Presbyterian Church of Yorktown.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We will be collecting coats, gloves, scarves, and hats. Items must be new, or gently used and clean.\u00a0 Please do NOT donate items that have holes, rips, missing buttons, broken zippers or stains. Please do not donate items if there is pet hair embedded in the fabric.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Students may bring donations to the boxes in the cafeteria or parents can drop off in the boxes in the front lobby.
