The fall weather has certainly arrived, and it is a great time for outdoor activities. Our students have been participating in outdoor physical education classes on a regular basis, along with outside recess and other learning activities. We hope that the snowy days take a while to get here.

Please be reminded that on this Friday, October 8th, all PVCSD schools will dismiss 15 minutes early as part of an Emergency Evacuation Drill. This means that parents who pick up students at the school for dismissal should arrive by 3:05 PM on Friday. Buses will leave the school parking lot by 3:15 PM. Please be at your child’s bus stop early on Friday. We will send another reminder later this week.

Our students will be taking part in Fire Safety and Prevention lessons this week with their classes. Thank you to the Putnam Valley Volunteer Fire Department for facilitating these important lessons again this year. We thank you for your community partnership!

There will be no school on Monday, October 11th in honor of Columbus Day. Schools will reopen on Tuesday, October 12th.

Our school building is a healthy one, and of course we want to keep it that way. Please do not send your child to school with any symptoms of illness, including a runny nose, headache, stomachache, sore throat, or, of course, fever. If students must be quarantined for Covid sickness or possible exposure, you will be contacted by your child’s teacher by the end of the next school day with directions on Quarantined Instructional Support for the absent days. (This plan only pertains to quarantined students. It is not for children who are absent for other reasons). This support will include log-in times for ELA and Math lessons, and directions for completing asynchronous assignments at home. Support staff will also be in touch with you if your child is quarantined. Although this plan is not the same as the Remote Learning that we had in place last year, we still want to make sure that we are in touch with your child during quarantine times, at least at certain parts of the day. Thank you for your patience as we navigate all of this. We are all looking forward to better days, and I thank our faculty for their incredible efforts.

Thank you to our PTA for organizing a wonderful School Picture Day this past week! The children had their individual photos taken outside on a gorgeous day. Picture re-takes are scheduled for Wednesday, October 27th!

Please check the Weekly Notices for this week, and mark your calendar for the PVFT Color Run, which will be held on Sunday, October 17th at 2:00 PM on the MS/HS campus. This is always a great event!

Thank you again for all your positive feedback and incredible support. We are working hard, and our students are thriving!
