\"\"Dear PVMS Families,<\/span><\/p>\n

We have made it to June and the last month of the 2020-2021 school year.\u00a0 It has been a very unique year to say the least.\u00a0 Our students and families have persevered through hybrid instruction, fully remote instruction, and quarantine.\u00a0 Thank you for adapting to the ever changing demands of this school year and partnering with us to provide the best education possible for our students.<\/span><\/p>\n

We have noticed a rise in racial slurs and hate speech throughout our student population.\u00a0 It is important that we come together as a community and celebrate our diversity. We denounce all acts of racism and discrimination. Putnam Valley embraces our diverse community and the commonalities that connect us as human beings.\u00a0 As educators and leaders, our goals are to ensure schools and communities are safe places for all children of all races, religions, ethnicities, sexual orientation, and\/or gender identity.\u00a0 Staff will continue to develop and implement a culturally responsive curriculum that focuses on social justice and rest assured, we are invested in positive change that will impact all. \u00a0 We will continue to work through the remainder of the school year and over the summer to ensure our curriculum and programs continue to educate students around cultural awareness and equity.<\/span><\/p>\n

Please note that we are still planning our 8th Grade Moving Up Ceremony. There are a few options available to us as we abide by the CDC guidelines and we want to allow families to attend the event.\u00a0 Plans will be finalized and communicated in early June. Thank you for your patience.<\/span><\/p>\n

The weekend of <\/span>June 4th and 5th<\/b> we will be recording our production of <\/span>Mary Poppins Jr. <\/span><\/i>It is scheduled to air the following weekend <\/span>June 11th and June 12th<\/b>.\u00a0 Our students have been working hard on this show for the past 8 months. Your support is greatly appreciated! Please consider buying a ticket to stream it from the comfort of your home! <\/span>Check out the flyer for more information!<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n

Wednesday, June 9th – NYS Grade 8 Science Written Exam<\/b><\/p>\n

Friday, June 18th – PVMS Staff vs 8th Grade Students Volleyball Game @1:45 PM – <\/b>Students participating will need to be picked up by a parent or guardian at 2:30 PM.<\/span><\/p>\n

Monday, June 21st – Yearbook Distribution –<\/b>\u00a0 The “Yearbook Order Center” closes on Saturday, May 29th, so be sure to reserve your copy as there will only be a limited number of extra copies when they arrive in June. <\/span>Visit <\/span>www.yearbookordercenter.com<\/span><\/a> and enter school code, 13029.\u00a0 <\/span>If you have any questions or concerns, direct them to Mrs. Trchala (<\/span>strchala@pvcsd.org<\/span>).<\/span><\/p>\n

This summer will be a time of reflection and preparation for the 2021 – 2022 school year.\u00a0 We are hopeful that next year will be a return to 100% full in person instruction for all.\u00a0 This year has taught us to value the time we have with our families and loved ones.\u00a0 Putnam Valley is a special place and our middle school community values the partnership we have with all families.\u00a0 We want to wish you a safe, healthy, and restful summer with your children.<\/span><\/p>\n
