Due to interrupted learning throughout the past year, The New York State Education Department has given schools flexibility regarding the administration of Regents exams. As a result, PVHS will be offering Regents exams in <strong>English, Living Environment, Algebra I and Earth Science<\/strong> for this June to any student who wishes to take them. All other Regents exams have been <strong>cancelled<\/strong> by NYSED.<\/p>\n<p>NYSED has also made Regents exam exemptions for graduation. As a result, no student will be <strong>penalized or prohibited <\/strong>from graduation due to failing a Regents exam this year.<\/p>\n<p>Additional Information on Regents examinations:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The student\u00a0<strong>must pass the course\u00a0<\/strong>ending in a Regents exam.<\/li>\n<li>Regents exams <strong>will not\u00a0<\/strong>be averaged into Final course averages this year.<\/li>\n<li>Testing will take place on campus only.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Q: If a student is not scheduled to take any of the four required Regents Exams, do they need to come to school those days? <\/strong>No<\/p>\n<p><strong>Q: Are students required to sit for the Regents exams that are scheduled?\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>All students who are in a class that is scheduled to take one of the 4 Regents exams are strongly encouraged to take the exam as they have been preparing for it all year long.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Q:\u00a0 So why should a student sit for an exam if it\u2019s no longer required?\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Regents exam still represents a cumulative assessment of the content and skills they have been working on all year.\u00a0 It is good practice for students to sit for a cumulative exam of this nature, and it can only benefit, not harm the student\u2019s overall grade.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Q:\u00a0 Will the Regents exams count toward a student\u2019s Final Average in the course? <\/strong>PVHS will not count the Regents exam toward the final average.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Q:\u00a0 If a student fails an exam that is required for graduation, will they need to retake the exam?\u00a0 <\/strong>\u00a0No.\u00a0 As long as the student has passed the class, they will be exempt from the graduation requirement, and thus will not need to retake the exam at a late date.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Q: What if I am an eLearner, do I need to come into school to take the exam? <\/strong>No.\u00a0 Students who have been remote all year do not need to come into school to take the exam and would be considered exempt.<\/p>\n<p>If your son\/daughter would like to participate in the administration of Regents examinations <strong>please complete this form by May 14th<\/strong> to enable us to prepare.<\/p>\n<p>***<a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/forms\/d\/e\/1FAIpQLScrV3NDlojs_q3akbqbawhF2Jodd1TV4uC7Ap8hIDS5t6xAFg\/viewform?usp=sf_link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">REGENTS FORM<\/a>***<\/p>\n<p>I am including a <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/document\/d\/11yzoDdDSovAlggJF08G51lwOVRo27LqH-T_zmkZVjyU\/edit?usp=sharing\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">JUNE SCHEDULE<\/a> to help you keep track of important events such as Regents Examinations, Senior Week Activities, Awards and PVHS Graduation.<\/p>\n<p>If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Orefice (<a href=\"mailto:gorefice@pvcsd.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">gorefice@pvcsd.org<\/a>) or Mrs. Gennett (<a href=\"mailto:mgennett@pvcsd.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">mgennett@pvcsd.org<\/a>) in the Main Office.<\/p>\n<p>We look forward to celebrating with students the end of a difficult year with a non-traditional Color Wars, and live-streamed awards ceremonies.<\/p>\n<p>Sincerely,<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Sandra Intrieri<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Dear Parents and Guardians, This has been a school year like no other!
