{"id":8600,"date":"2021-01-08T15:30:57","date_gmt":"2021-01-08T20:30:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pvcsd.org\/?p=8600"},"modified":"2021-01-09T12:52:28","modified_gmt":"2021-01-09T17:52:28","slug":"weekly-word-january-8-2021","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pvcsd.org\/index.php\/es\/es-letter\/weekly-word-january-8-2021\/","title":{"rendered":"Weekly Word &#8211; January 8, 2021"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Dear PVES Families,<\/p>\n<p>As we come to the end of this first school week of the new year, I want to sincerely thank all of our families and staff for providing our students all necessary support for a successful week of remote learning.\u00a0 We look forward to welcoming all in-school learners back to school on this Monday, January 11<sup>th<\/sup>.\u00a0 Our remote learners will then follow their regular remote learning schedules.\u00a0 Be sure to check with your teachers about supply pick-up for class!<\/p>\n<p>As students return to school on Monday, laptops with chargers, laptop cases, and school materials must be brought to school.\u00a0 All 1<sup>st<\/sup> through 4<sup>th<\/sup> grade students may transport their school laptops back to school by themselves IF they are securely placed in school laptop cases.\u00a0 All Kindergarten laptops (without cases) must be returned by an adult on Monday morning. Any other laptops without school cases must be returned by an adult.\u00a0 We truly appreciate your help with these guidelines, as these district learning materials must be protected.\u00a0 In-school learners should bring back all classroom books and materials requested by their teachers, so that learning can begin with ease on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>VERY IMPORTANT:\u00a0 Before having your children return to school, it is required that you notify us if your children have traveled out of state, if they are sick or have tested positive for COVID, and\/or if anyone in your family has tested positive for COVID or is awaiting test results.\u00a0 It is VERY important that we keep our building safe for all students and staff, and state quarantine guidelines and regulations must be followed at all times.\u00a0 If you have specific questions, please reach out to Mrs. Kathy Hill, our school nurse at <a href=\"mailto:khill@pvcsd.org\">khill@pvcsd.org<\/a>.\u00a0 She can also be reached at 845-528-8092, ext. 1106.\u00a0 Please do not hesitate to ask questions.\u00a0 We want to help to make sure we are all doing the right thing, protecting ourselves and each other.<\/p>\n<p>Our PVES clinical staff sent a very informative Connect Ed message today which listed Family Services available to those in need in our county.\u00a0 Please know that as a school district, we are committed to providing families with connections to resources that may help.\u00a0 We know that these are very hard times, and the stress and anxiety surrounding the current pandemic and our national affairs can feel overwhelming, for both children and adults.\u00a0 Please do not hesitate to reach out if we can help to arrange support.\u00a0 We are a strong and caring community, and we will get through all of this together.<\/p>\n<p>I would like to wish a sincere Congratulations to Mr. Mick Coleman, math\/elementary teacher, who retired this week, after over 30 years of outstanding service to the Putnam Valley Central School District.\u00a0 Mr. Coleman will be greatly missed, as he has always put his love of children, and his love of math, first and foremost into all of his work.\u00a0 We wish Mick and his family a long and healthy, happy retirement.\u00a0 He has certainly played a huge role in this elementary school\u2019s success!<\/p>\n<p>Schools will be closed on Monday, January 18<sup>th<\/sup>, in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.
