{"id":8497,"date":"2020-12-06T17:07:02","date_gmt":"2020-12-06T22:07:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pvcsd.org\/?p=8497"},"modified":"2020-12-06T17:07:02","modified_gmt":"2020-12-06T22:07:02","slug":"msg-from-dr-luft-hs-ms-es-updates-monday-12-7","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pvcsd.org\/index.php\/district\/superintendent\/msg-from-dr-luft-hs-ms-es-updates-monday-12-7\/","title":{"rendered":"Msg. from Dr. Luft &#8211; HS\/MS\/ES Updates: Monday 12\/7"},"content":{"rendered":"<p dir=\"ltr\">December 6, 2020<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Dear Putnam Valley School Community,<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Over the past several days, we have been notified of several positive cases spanning all three buildings.\u00a0 In most cases, the individual who tested positive has not been in the building since before Thanksgiving and no contact tracing was necessary.\u00a0 Putnam Valley High School had an individual who was in school last week test positive, contact tracing for this case is already underway. As required by law, we must maintain this person\u2019s confidentiality, which prevents us from further identifying the individual.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">At this time, we will need to move Putnam Valley High School into remote only instruction through <strong>Friday, December 11,<\/strong> as we do not have the staff necessary to safely operate the building.\u00a0 Putnam Valley Middle School will continue remote instruction through <strong>Tuesday, December 8.\u00a0<\/strong> Putnam Valley Elementary School is opening for students tomorrow, <strong>Monday, December 7.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">It is important that every family be aware that these plans are likely to change if we are notified of other potential exposures or positive cases.\u00a0 We are encouraging all families to be prepared to quickly transition into remote only instruction if the need arises.\u00a0 As the number of positive cases across the state continues to rise, so does the likelihood of our buildings closing for in-person instruction.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">As a reminder, if you believe at any point you may have been in close contact with someone who has COVID-19, you should self-quarantine and speak to your healthcare provider.\u00a0 If you suspect you or a family member is becoming ill, stay home, and consult with a physician.\u00a0 Symptoms of COVID-19 include fever, cough, sore throat, runny nose, muscle pain, fatigue, new onset of loss of taste and\/or smell, and sometimes vomiting or diarrhea.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Visit the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gcc02.safelinks.protection.outlook.com\/?url=https%25253A%25252F%25252Fcoronavirus.health.ny.gov%25252Ffind-test-site-near-you&amp;data=02%25257C01%25257CShanna.Siegel%252540putnamcountyny.gov%25257Cd7c5d7aafe734d658ce408d849ff63e1%25257Cc6df28f5475c4383add6eaef824e869f%25257C0%25257C0%25257C637340708557944903&amp;sdata=ZQ30EuJcmv10Kn%25252FW3xP64TG7OjIRWg5wZX3hE%25252FqygtA%25253D&amp;reserved=0\">NY State Find a Test Site Near You<\/a>\u00a0page and enter your address to view a list of the nearest testing sites.
