400;\">\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The month of November is always a time to be thankful for all that we have and to be thoughtful and empathetic with the way we approach any situation.\u00a0 Last week we recognized Red Ribbon Week by watching a 53 minute video on <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ryanpatrickhalligan.org\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ryan\u2019s Story<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.\u00a0 We hope that you can have conversations with your children around the impact words can have on anyone\u2019s life.\u00a0 Social media and technology amplify these situations and education is a way that we can help everyone grow from these situations.\u00a0 Being upstanders as opposed to bystanders will help to foster a positive environment for all.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Please take a look at our <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/sites.google.com\/pvcsd.org\/family-resources\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Family Resource Webpage<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> for more information and services available to families.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As we continue deep into autumn and start to feel the colder temperatures, please have your children bundle up.\u00a0 They should be wearing jackets and be prepared for outdoor recess while enjoying the fresh air.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Please keep in mind that there is always the possibility of snow or icy roads moving forward and to have a contingency plan in place.\u00a0 In the case that we may have an early dismissal, it is imperative to provide your children with a house key or a plan to go to a neighbor\u2019s or relative\u2019s house.\u00a0 We do not want your children to panic or need to make last minute plans as this will impact their emotional state and distress them in a time where this doesn\u2019t need to be the case.\u00a0 Create a plan and be prepared, as this will help everyone to be where they need to be without creating stress during these situations.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Important Dates<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Election Day is on Tuesday, 11\/3\/20.\u00a0 Please remember that no children come to school on this day.\u00a0 Our staff members will be taking part in a Superintendent\u2019s Conference Day and expanding on professional development opportunities.\u00a0 Please get out and remember to vote!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">School will be closed on Wednesday, 11\/11\/20 for Veteran\u2019s Day.\u00a0 Thank you to all who have served or are serving our country!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Quarter 2 begins Monday, 11\/16\/20 so please have a conversation with your children regarding any missing materials that need to be turned in before the end of the quarter.\u00a0 Please check PowerSchool weekly to ensure that your children are being successful and up to date on assignments.\u00a0 This is also a great time to clean out binders and keep all items in safe storage until the end of the year.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Please mark your calendar to check PowerSchool on Thursday, 11\/19\/20 for Quarter 1 Report Card Grades and Comments.\u00a0 Please be sure to reach out to teachers regarding any academic, behavioral, or social concerns.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Thanksgiving Recess will be observed 11\/25\/20 \u2013 11\/29\/20.\u00a0 Enjoy this time with your family and reflect on everything that we have to be thankful for.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Our picture retake dates have changed.\u00a0 These\u00a0 will occur on Tuesday, 12\/01\/20 and Wednesday, 12\/02\/20.\u00a0 These will take place during recess periods and after school for those students that are 100% remote.\u00a0 Please remind your children to dress appropriately for their pictures if choosing to retake them or if they were absent during the initial picture day.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As the year progresses quickly, please find the time to communicate with your children. \u00a0 Please partner with us in reminding students to make good choices.\u00a0 Studies show that spending time with your children through reading together, playing sports or games, and creating arts and crafts just to name a few, opens the line of communication for all.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight:
